I 900 DZIA5 XP

« on: April 02, 2009, 06:31:29 AM »

Occasionally my phone gives me this error message that says the storage memory is critically low and to remove some files which are using the memory... and everytime I just clear my browsers history/cache/cookies and it gives me about 7mb of free storage memory and i'm good to go.

I was wondering what ELSE would be using the storage memory and how can I move these files or just simply delete them. It gives you the option to search for files which are using the memory, but when I do that all that comes up is some pretty important Windows files.

The reason i'm asking is because everytime I clear my history/cache/cookies I notice quite a performance increase and i'm assuming if I could clear up more than just 5-7mb it would be an even bigger differerence.

Thanks

PS. I have the Omnia i910

Ok, I didn't see if this info was posted on another page...but I work for VZW  Wink and I got an email from our tech dept that may help...
"Version 1.4.1 of VZAppZone is known to cause problems with the internal memory. Error: Storage memory is critically low, if the storage memory is not increased other programs may not be able to start. Upgrading to 1.4.2 of VZAppZone resolves this issue.

Issue
While VZAppZone 1.4.1 is installed on the device, the device might display a critically low memory error, not allowing txt/pix to be sent/open, download or view programs, etc.

Resolution
To correct this problem, customers with the 1.4.1 version should upgrade the VZAppZone application to version 1.4.2.

Current users of VZAppZone v1.4.2 will be notified of the update on the Windows Mobile Today Screen or when they visit the My Zone page.

New customers who download VZAppZone will automatically download the new 1.4.2 version."

...I had previously tried to remove VZAppZone since I never used it, if you've done the same, just go to http://ota.getvzappzone.com/ ...a site to redownload the app for free. It opened up like 20MBs  Shocked on my device. I don't know if it will be the same for everyone but its worth a shot, I think.

Hope this helps.

I'm down to 3.42 MB (supposedly) in my memory card.  Yet, when I try and delete program files and even soft reset, the memory usage is staying the same.

I have just about all of my programs and such loaded onto my Storage Card on my Verizon i910.  Maybe its as a result of this specific bug that I can't get anymore space, I removed the Verizon Apps.

I was going to try and install with the new version of Verizon Apps to see if it would help on my space, but I need to get more space in the first place in order to download (and I'm hoping to avoid a Hard Reset).

Any help that I might get is appreciated.

Thanks for your reply.  I have both ClearTemp and SKTools on my Omnia but for some reason no matter what I was removing I couldn't get the memory any lower.

I ended up resetting and using it as a chance to test out a combinations of SPBMobileShell and Pointui Home2 so I chalk it up as a learning experience.  I like many things about the M2D rom but it does seem to take up a bunch of valuable space on my Verizon i910.

This solution you offered was the solution to my problem. Thank you so much. Now that the 20megs are gone, I wonder if I can erase App Zone...

I've had this phone for a few months with no real problems. Until today started getting the criticaly low memory warning.  I have very little installed on my phone. No music, few pictures, hardly any apps. I have a storage card that I store most stuff on. I have version 1.4.2 AppZone.    Anything else I can do to stop getting this message...??

Hie everyone,
Need some help over here. I am using Omnia i900. Was wondering can we actually delete the ROM programs that came with the phone? Eg: Opera, GoogleMap, PhotoSlides, etc. I located them under Windows. However unable to delete them even with TotalCommander. Any reccommendation or help as these files are really big files sitting on Omnia's ROM which is so limited. Thanks in advance.
