Hey,

Are you running spb shell 3? then you might want to
try restarting it. do this by going to today screen and activate it again.

if you are not using spb shell 3, it might has to do with a new email account.
there may be a windows mobile 'tricks and tips' email somewhere in one of your email accounts!

let me know if you found it.

Good luck!

your simcard may have a feature to save sms messages. mine can store up to a 100. ask your service provider if its the case.

Hello all, a simple search would have brought up some results.  I know I've answered this question about two times already.  There are normally two or three things you can do.

1) If it's a text message and you are running CF03, the latest verizon update, be sure that the message is highlighted blue.  If not, be sure to scroll over the message (or in my case I use the mouse and click the name) so that it then become highlighted and clears the message.
2) If it's an MMS message, please remember there is usually some sort of a time limit on the message.  You can usually find this towards the bottom of the message.  Be sure that the message is shown for the entire time limit before closing it out.  The longest I've had one is for about 10 seconds, minimum 5 seconds.
3) If both of those fail, try marking your last message unread and then re-open it and do one of the first two steps.
Please note that for some of you who have had this issue for some time, you may have to find the original txt/mms that was not completely read to resolve this issue.

Sorry, maybe i did not made myself clear... the fact is that... this sms "does not exist"!
:-D the op up alerô tells about a message recived at 17,47 from a lets say "John".
If i go under the messages... there is no message by john at 17,47!
:-P

this is the problem. I tried erasing all the message from This sender but it did not solve the problem. The pop up alert is still there.

I have had the exact same problem since September 29 last year. Every time I receive a new message or turn on my phone, I get an alert about having one new message received at that date. However, I never actually received the message (when I click the alert, the message is unopenable; it has always been and remains undetectable when I go to my inbox). I even deleted all messages from that person, hoping it would solve the problem, but I still receive the alert. It's annoying as hell particularly as I seem unable to ever open up the message (as it doesn't seem to exist on my phone) in order to delete the alert.

Can you try this:

In your Inbox, tap on Menu > Tools > Clear "Text Messages".

i experienced that once. no matter what i do i always have that notification in my inbox that i have one unread text message. it happened i really do have one unread message with a message with a wrong date (i somehow messed with my phones system date when i changed time zone). so the unread message was lost in the middle of a conversation.

if still you can't find that unread message, i agree with omnian's post above.

from my experience, the reason is the following:
it happens when i get a missed call while the phone has no coverage.
The system sends these sms saying that i recived missed call and these sms get stuck.
It happened to me 3 times. First time i had to erase the phone!
Then i experience that by some reason... after some time they disappear...

Even when i have no new text messages my inbox always says 1. Any idea how to fix this?

I just had this problem on my Samsung Mythic. I managed to solve it but not without a bit of grief. I'm going to list the steps I took, I'm sure more than a few are superfluous to what was actually needed, but if you're looking for options to fix the problem, it might be worth a shot.
Using Phone:
1) Clear ALL your text messages from Inbox/Sent/Outbox/Drafts
Using TKExplorer:
1) Connect to your phone and browse to ./User/Msg/SMS
2) Copy the contents of that folder to your own computer
3) Make a BACKUP of this info. This is extremely important because we will use the backup to restore messaging capability to the phone.
4) From the non-backup version, open up any file inside there with the word 'FAIL' or 'RCVD' (total of 6 files for me). Delete any contents inside of the files and reupload them to your phone, overwriting what is there right now.
5) Restart the phone. Your rogue text message should be gone from the widget that notifies you about new texts. Messaging will most likely not work.
6) Using the backups, restore the files you overwrote in ./User/Msg/SMS. Restart your phone. Messaging works now but the phone doesn't have that annoying 'one new message' pop up anymore.

Just to clarify, you do all of this at your own risk! I freaked out a couple of times when my messaging wouldn't start, but if you are sure to make backups, you probably won't do toooo much damage Tongue Also, I have no idea why that worked as a solution. Maybe others do, I'm just glad the stupid widget is no longer telling me I have messages when I don't.

Good Luck
