I have not had success loading Skype on my i900. Any advice? www.skype.com has a Smartphone and a PocketPC mobile version, I (in desparation) have tried both - no success. btw - some places on the internet it says i900 is Smartphone, other places say PocketPC, which is correct - my Samsung manuals do not say!

Samsung's offering an "Omnia software package" that includes the right version of Skype on the Omnia's website.  The link is buried in one of the posts on this forum.....I installed it and it works great.

I did as you indicated but when I start the skype application it shows the initial screen, waits for a minute maybe and then says "Could not start Skype".

Any further ideas?

I've installed and removed skype from my Omnia, basically because the camera function didn't work and there wasn't an option to turn it on or view the other persons. Plus there was a delay in the voice calls, I'll just use the phone facility to make calls.

Still cant get it to work. So maybe it is my ROM (JCHH1). I live in South Africa and use MTN as my service provider. I have a few questions before I go to loading another ROM:
1. Can I save my current ROM so I can get back to it if other ROMs dont work?
2. Which ROM can I use, I do not know how to decide which will be fine for me - need full english version which will work with my service provider.
3. Steps to save old and load new ROMs

Hi All,

I have successfully installed skype on my Omnia.  But the only thing is I only get audio out of the speaker phone.  And I can not get it to send the call to my bluetooth headset.  I have only made skype to skype calls so far.  But has anyone successfully configured skype to work with their bluetooth.

I downloaded the SkypeForPocketPC.CAB v2.2.0.45 from the skype website.  I created a directory on my storeage to place the cab into.  Then I used file explorer to navigate to the directory to run the cab file.  One very important step before logging into skype is to make sure you are connected to a wifi source on your omnia.  And make sure to configure skype to use wifi only.  I did not have success using 3g and wifi.  But the sounds quality is great.  The only issue I really have is that I can not transfer the call to my bluetooth.

I hope this helps.

Just use this link instead.  I have this one working fine on my Omnia.  Just make sure you using wifi when doing the setup. So you can test if the software is working.

Choose for PocketPC.

Hi,

Has anyone else gotten to make work Skype on Omnia? I think that everyone get to install it, but the problem is when you start it.

I have downloaded the last version .045 and tested Pocket .145, but none of them worked.

I installed and started it using wifi, as some one of you have suggested.

If anyone has other trick, please, let me know.....so far, I am using fring.....

thanks.
