Omnia II. Strange problem. When I try to install the apps, the installer keeps telling me Adobe Flash Player is required. AFP (v 10.0.45.2) is installed, has been reinstalled several times, but still the same warning. This on a Windows 7 Pro PC. Yet the apps install perfectly on an older PC running XP Pro and the same version of AFP.

I have contacted Samsung but no reply to date. Would be grateful for any pointers you could provide.

Thanks for posting. Tried your reply. No luck I'm afraid. Since, have used the adobe uninstaller to remove AFP and purged the application folders and registry; surprised to find 91 registry entries remaining after the uninstall. Reinstalled AFP (off-line) and tried to run "Getting Started" again. Same problem: "You need to install AFP.........". All the above done under a single administrator account with firewall/AV disabled, etc, etc.

Still no reply from Samsung.................................

I think it's a Windows 7 64 "thing" from what I've been reading on the web. Take a look here though and try this, it 'might' work for you.
http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsmobileactivesync/thread/a805bb43-cf96-4431-9365-cef49afda1d2

and here:
http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general-omnia-rom-discussion/287893/cant-update-omnia-with-windows-7-why/#entry1176214
Shokka suggested using a virtual program to help flash and I'm wondering whether using one would enable you to install things on your phone
....I was thinking about upgrading to Windows 7 64 later in the year but I'm not sure now, hopefully by then they will have fixed this type of problem with it.

Thanks for the pointers. This just in from Samsung:

Thank you for submitting your inquiry to Samsung.
Hello,
The software we provide for this phone is not compatible with Windows 7 yet. Therefore, the disk itself has not been tested for compatible with Windows 7 either
.

How long will it take? Don't know yet!

Nice.

Appreciate the post. Since receiving Samsung's reply, I tried the installation cd on a Pentium4/WIN7 Pro x86 PC (not in XP compatibility mode), which is my "First" backup machine. Applications installed without problem. Now I'm really confused. The PC which will not accept the installation is a Core 2 Quad machine with the same O/S and software applications/settings but a different video card and mainboard.

Don't have much more time to "waste" on this issue but as in my first post, the problem is that the install CD does not recognize the AFP installation.  I did visit the AFP forum and it seems there are all kinds of problems with v. 10.0.45.2. Some blaming Adobe, others blaming MS security policies.

Another incongruity is that the install cd relates to WIN 6.1 whereas v 6.5 is installed on the 'phone.

To summarize: the apps installed successfully on my XP machine and my older WIN7 machine so at least I have something with which to work. I think we can consider the issue closed and thanks to all for their input. If I hear further from Samsung, I will post the follow up.

Riser.
Can you please clarify: It runs on your Windows 7 32 bit But not on your Windows 7 64 bit, correct? Thanks.

Hello. I am having this same problem. I have recently had to wipe my computer clean and start from scratch. So I've been doing nothing but reinstalling all the programs that I lost when I wiped it. I had the Getting Started CD installed once before, so I thought that it wouldn't be a problem to do it a second time after I wiped the computer. WRONG! I've had nothing but problems trying to get the darn thing to reinstall! It keeps telling me that I need to install Adobe Flash Player 8.0 or later and I have the latest version already installed. I don't know how many times I've uninstalled AFP, rebooted, reinstalled AFP, rebooted the darn computer AGAIN and it STILL tells me the same message! My operating system is Windows XP Home Edition and I don't know what else to do. I'm at my wits end with frigging around with this thing. If ANYONE can give me any advice or things to try that I haven't I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
