Does anybody know how to free up used RAM? With no applications running (Widgets OFF) I only have 58MB available on 256.
Even my internal storage is almost full with nothing installed: only 46MB available, and 75% of the total is "reserved".

Any smart idea?
Thanks

What do you need the RAM for?
If you are not using it, the whole discussion is quite academic.

Well I need the RAM to open applications.
When more than one is opened at the same time "multitasking" it goes rapidily down. Does it sound academic reason?

I agree there is not a lot of memory availaable, about the only thing I can find fault with on the phone.  One thing you can do is turn off the touchwiz UI in setting which will free up about 10mb and you jus thave to use stock WM 6.5 start menu.  Turing back to one of the standard home pages will free up some more as well.  Right now with nothing running I have 80 MB free vs the ~60it had when I first got it.
As for storage, make sure you install most apps to My Storage and not Main memory.

Are you using a factory unlocked version of the Omnia 2 or a carrier based one? Coz I myself with a Bell network Omnia 2 with alot of network shit apps had a low amount of RAM & device memory before, what I do is did a hard reset, disabled Touch Wiz UI and installed MemMaid utility APP.

I hope somebody will make a vanilla or lite ROM for this awesome device, to free up memory for us to do our own set ups.

I have the verizon o2 turning off touchwiz and soft reset should free over 10mb
with it on there is a mainmenu exe running that will go away when you turn it off

I've actually managed to get mine up above 85 with no home app running.  about 72 with home 2(running about 14mb). because I run home2 I turn off windows background, I shut down ScreenCapture from startup(no idea what it does, but all seems fine), I replace rotationsupport.exe with OrientationDetection which saves 1/2 mb+ and allows 4 way rotation, disable CHomeManager from startup(only for titanium home screen).

if you are going to try this please make sure you backup the startup links.  No promises, but seems to work for me.  I can now run my big fat home2 UI home screen and still have 70+mb free.

to turn off touchwiz go settings | Display and light | Items on today and uncheck Samsung WidgetPlus

As for RAM, I have a stock Bell ROM and have about 50MB free. I used the Delvius registry tweaker to change the low RAM setting. Occasionally WM will close if I go online  but that's about it. There are alternate ROM available. Check the ROM Discussion section for the JD4 lite ROM.

I'm more comfortable with tweaks and cabs than flashing ROM myself although I flashed by Creative players whenever new OS came out and never had problems.
