Device SOLD!!

« on: March 15, 2010, 03:02:31 AM »

Hi out there!

I found a nice thread at Modaco called Android on Omnia 2.
I contacted the head of the project and almar and me are also working on a version for our loved Omnia PRO!!

Here is a first video on YouTube (just to proove that it works Wink )
<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.youtube.com/v/bufrPC8T2Dw&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/bufrPC8T2Dw&rel=1</a>

The linux kernel - on which Android is based - is still not ready and it doesn't run stable. That's the reason why we don't officially provide it. It still can brick our devices!
Please don't ask me to share it per PM or something else. I won't do that!

I hope I can tell you more about the developing progress in a few weeks.

Regards

Hmmm..I would have preferred to have seen them touch the screen to 'activate' something otherwise, couldn't you make it look like this with a huge start up GIF? Yes, my glass is half empty  Tongue  Grin

For now it is not working on my B7610, almar tested on his I8000.
The display driver in the kernel has to be adjusted a bit. There are some small differences betweet both screens.
Later this week I should be able to upload a video showing my own device.

OK, but try not to break it as it's not nice seeing a grown man cry.  Grin

This is exciting stuff Smiley

I personally hate the branding, and also the general 'slowness' of how my B7610 plods through each screen, and lathargically answers and ends calls.

I have a G1, which runs soo much better. (Now it's rooted)

To have Android on the Omnia pro, would make life so much easier.

Good luck and keep up the great work Smiley
