Hi

I like to keep my PDA permanently protected. Previously I've found cases that let me access all the phones features without removing it from the case. Its trickier with a sliding keyboard but possible.
Doesa anyone know of a case that would be suitable for the Omnia Pro and where to get it?

Thanks
James

He wants a case which doesn't have to be removed when using the hardware keyboard. So it must be a hardcase, plastic, no leather.

Leather cases can work if they have stuff in to stiffen them. The case I had for my HTC Tytn II which I linked to in my first post was leather. There are other examples too.

Having heard about how susceptible the Omnia Pro is to screen scratches I'm even more concerned about getting a decent case (if the handset ever gets released in the UK!!). Has anyone else found it scratches easily?

The nearest I've found so far have been on mobilephonecrazy. I wrote to them asking for more details. Here's the reply I got:
Quote
Firstly, the clear crystal cover is a transparent hardened plastic case which the phone can be used whilst in it, however, the display screen is usually open to the elements and not protected by the case, because there is a cut out where the display screen is visible to allow you to use the screen. This type of case really protects like an extra layer of external casing to your phone, rather than a traditional type of case. From your description of wanting to keep your PDA completely and permanently protected while in or out of use, in all honesty, this may not be the best case for your intended usage. If you are interested in one of these cases, more information, with illustration, can be found here at this link from our website: http://www.mobilephonecrazy.com/modeldetail/B7610-Omnia-Pro,Clear_crystal_cover.htm

The phone glove case is actually a black leather case with an opening vertically at the top by velcro or magnetic snap (at the manufacturer's discretion - we have no control over this) to allow the phone to slip in and out of it, with a belt clip on the back. The case completely surrounds your phone and protects in whilst in the case, so this could be ideal for what you are looking for, however, the PDA must be removed from the case for usage. More information about these can be found here at this link from our website: http://www.mobilephonecrazy.com/modeldetail/B7610-Omnia-Pro,Black_Phone_Glove_Case.htm   Please note that the picture shown is not entirely accurate, the front is enclosed in black leather and does not have the cut out opening over the display screen as shown. It is a completely enclosed black leather phone glove case to fit this particular PDA specifically.

The bodyglove case is currently not available, and our website is in process of being updated. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Lastly, the vertical leather flip case, is a premium leather case, made of the highest quality NAPA leather, with all the cut outs and openings for your phone model in the exact correct positions on the case. This means you can use headsets, charge your phone, etc. whilst it is in the case. However, because the Samsung B7610 Omni Pro has a full frontal display screen, this case only exposes the top half of it when flipped open allowing usage of that portion of the screen, otherwise, the phone must be removed from the case in order to use the full display screen. Please note that the top half of the display screen exposed when the case is flipped open, is not protected by a plastic sheath, and is fully open. More information about this case can be found here at this link from our website:
http://www.mobilephonecrazy.com/modeldetail/B7610-Omnia-Pro,Premium_Vertical_Leather_Flip_Case.htm

I hope the above has tried to help you to make an informed decision. Please note that none of the current cases on the market place for this particular phone allow it to slide for usage at present. We are pushing for a manufacturer to actually make a case similar to the Krusell cases for this phone, such as with all the cut outs in the correct places, a plastic sheath over the display screen, and with the ability to allow full use for the phone to slide whilst in the case. This currently doesn't exist, but in the next few months, watch this space, the manufacturers are always coming up with new ideas. The closest currently is a Krusell case, which unfortunately is not available yet on the market place for this particular phone / PDA model, but when it is, we will be among the first to get it. We are currently taking pre-orders for this case, which is why the link is showing on our website for it. They are hopefully expected to arrive into stock within the next month, and all orders for them will be fulfilled in the sequence received until the stock is depleted for them.

And what about this?

From the site of the link the TS posted. It looks like the phone can stay in the case when the keyboard is open.

Yeah. The noreve case I had for my Tytn II was excellent.

The picutres don't show exactly how it opens. The middle picture confuses me. It doesn't look like an Omnia Pro B7610? It shows a “hold” button?

I'm hoping Raposa will post some pictures

Thanks

Yes, it shows a 'hold' button, probably an early model or something, it's the same size and location as the 'device lock' button. But you've already read that, haven't you? Wink

I must agree the pictures are not very clear.

The case looks nice, but I'm not a fan of a detachable belt clip. It's been a couple of years ago, but once I lost a phone on a festival because the belt clip detached itself. It had a screw at the back of case with a special head that slid into the belt clip. The belt clip had a locking mechanism to prevent the phone from sliding out, but somehow the screw unscrewed itself. Bye-bye 1-month old HTC Magician!

So I now have a pretty rigid leather case, however it lacks the 'safety loop, but the B7610 fits in snugly, with some spare room in the 'depth dimension'. That's not so bad, because the magnets in this type of case cause some wear on the screen if it is too tight. The downside is that I'm not allowed to drop the phone when in my hands. Well, that rarely happens, once in a year or so...

I took a surf around and found some videos that illustrate/explain how the same style of case works on other phones

<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.youtube.com/v/XkGdBdvvhbA&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/XkGdBdvvhbA&rel=1</a>

<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.youtube.com/v/lLPbe0lmwvE&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/lLPbe0lmwvE&rel=1</a>

Now I see that the middle image shows the hings and cover for the camera, while the lower part of the third image shows the folded back, inside of that flap.
Like my Tytn II case it has curved grips that keep the phone in place both while the keyboard is closed and open.
I like it

I've had the Noreve case for a could of weeks now.

The leather is nice and soft giving good protection. A little more coverage for the top half of the phone on some corners would be nice.
It lacks a pocket for a memory card.

I would prefer a book style opening too.

On my previous case I found the belt clip system problematic. Because I screwed the optional nut on too tight (and used superglue!) it was difficult to get the phone off the clip. Later the clip was wrecked when the phone got caught on something and it ripped the front of the clip off. The spiky nut can also uncomfortable in a pocket if you choose to carry it that way for a bit. So this time I'm not uisng the belt clip and nut at all.

My main gripe is that the flap lacks a cutout for the USB and headphone sockets. So you have to have the flap open, hence screen unprotected, while these are plugged in for charging, syncing, listening etc.

I found it cheapest on mobiefiun.co.uk and have just given it 4 out of 5 stars there.  Smiley
