The problem I have is that however lightly I try to scroll programs or telephone numbers open. Is there a way to make it less sensitive because it is useless at present.

Pressing lightly is the problem, because you are varying the pressure instead of being more firm and not putting light pressure on and off so the phone thinks it's a tap on the screen. Just press a little firmer and keep the pressure even.

here you go...  of course a reg editor is needed....and where it says change to 0   see what the value is and go up 5.. e.g. 20  change to 25...  then try it   it will be a try and see thing.....

Lubwin00 ... Pressing harder or firmer is even worse ... I have had the this phone for months and tried everything. It is so bad that I had given up on it and am now using my old phone.

Kawgirlval69 ... I feel sure that will do the trick and I will try it as soon as I have more time and let you know.

Both your replies are much appreciated.

I checked the touch/filter setting and it was 0. However every time I changed it to 5 a noticed popped up advising me "Acess is denied" Would appreciate advise as to what I am doing wrong. I feel sure that resetting this value will fix the problem.

You are not the first who has posted about this and the others 'cured' the problem by being more positive when using the screen.

You must be double tapping as it doesn't open a contact unless you do. Try just pressing hard on a contact without trying to scroll, it shouldn't open and if it does then it's a software fault and I would recommend a hard reset, assuming that you've already tried a soft reset.

Are you running a standard ROM? You might try installing SPB shell, they have a free trial and if it is a software fault then this might cure it.

You iphone must be broken then.
i8000 - AMOLED resistive touchscreen
iphone - TFT capacitive touchscreen
TFT capacitive touchscreens are more sensitive and you've just made a less sensitive screen (resistive touchscreen) even less sensitive than normal and say it's now the same as your iphone?
