Hi Friends,

After one month of use, my new OMNIA II, does not RING during calling.

The Setup is ok,

Call alert type = Vibrate and Ring
Ring Tone = Cloudy Tone
Vibration type = Rhythmic Vibration 4.

When I choose the tone, in settings, I can here the tone and feel the vibration.

I have read in various posts that the solution is HARD RESET. I would like to avoid.
I am sure that some REGISTRY VALUE is corrupted or changed by mistake.

The Ring Volume is 5 (No Silent)
The System Volume is 5 (No Silent)

PLEASE HELP

Hi there, the solution is to not apply the "Soft Initial" ring tweak.

Reverse the tweak in the registry, and you're good to go.

Original tweak located here:
http://www.samsung-omnia.org/how-to-b57/i8000-user-manuel/msg57323/#msg57323

Just in case you forgot the default settings:
1. In HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Attenuation,
- Delete DWORD value name: 5 value : 1

2. In HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring\AttenuationCategory
- Change to 2

Power off by holding the bottom right button, and power it back on (soft reset).

Hope it helps.

*Edit*: Re-read what you wrote, and I see what you mean.

DWORD Name 0: Value 0
DWORD Name 1: Value 4
DWORD Name 2: Value 4
DWORD Name 3: Value 0

These values are taken from my own Omnia II. It's running WM 6.5.

Hope it helps!

Thanks Comage,

but unfortunately The problem is still there Cry.

If it helps for further investigation, when I call from another tel. and hung up ...... I hear the ring tone for half a second, but not always.

I had applied the increasing ring tone But I chnged the value as proposed.

- <characteristic type="Install">
  <parm name="InstallPhase" value="install" />

  <parm name="NumRegKeys" value="1" />
  <parm name="NumRegVals" value="1" />
  <parm name="NumShortcuts" value="0" />
  </characteristic>

I know the symptoms. I had the exact same problem. The phone wouldn't ring during an incoming call. Only when you hang up does the phone ring for a split second, and then stop.

You applied the increasing ring tone. So reverse the changes. You must have missed out a setting somewhere.

Check your phone registry settings with the below screenshots

Thanks Comage,

But these are exactly my Registry Values.

Perhaps I have changed something more.

I use SKTools, Advanced Config etc.

ANY PROPOSITION IS WELL COME

I am desperate and I try to avoid the bloody Hard Reset.

Any 3rd party software you installed on your phone?

Could try to uninstall them one by one?

Too many.... but none since 2 weeks.

I have just uninstalled the Call Waiting Fix but  Cry
The problem appeared on Last Friday.

The curious thing is that, when I Use the Program Fake Call, which gives you a fake call when you want, the ring is Ok

Thanks a lot Comage  Grin
I applied the changes in the registry as shown in your printscreens and my initial ring came back.

Especially the initial value was set at 0 in my phone instead of 3
Tahnks again !!

Glad it helped you, nathelas.

snest: Sorry, I'm out of ideas. Best solution remaining would be to backup your calendar, phone book, notes and memos and memory card, and do the hard reset.

Then reinstall your 3rd party apps one by one until you find the problematic software.

just to throw it out there.... after the first or second try of locating the problem youre just as well off to hard reset and start from scratch..i know we all hate it but time wise youre gonna save a lot by ending the misery....
  a tip i give to all modders is to keep a record of what you change and the orig values.  i have a notepad full of the tweaks ive done...after my first few forgetful tries i started to do this and it made a huge difference...

just a recommendation from someone whos been there and done that...

I Found the Solution  Grin Cheesy Tongue

Thanks to Comage.

Looking more carefuly at  Comage attached pictures from his registry I realised that the HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\RIng
AttenuationCategory was not a REG_DWORD BUT a REG_SZ.

I JUST CHANGED and RESET and .......................I CAN HEAR THE RING
