Hi was wondering if any could help me out. I downloaded tomtom mobile 6.02 the other day hoping to install it on my omnia. However the file is ".sis" and the omnia doesnt seem to open it. When i click to open it, it says: "There is no application assosicated with "file name". Run the application first, then open this from within the application."
Can anyone help me with a solution for this? or suggest another way i can get tomtom or another satnav on my omnia for free or cheapest possible.
Thanks

A.sis file is for the Symbian operating system and won't work on your Omnia.

you are not forced to always have the omnia in landscape mode when using the iGO8 software! in the program you can choose how you want the display to be oriented. so the iGO8 software functions both in landscape mode and the standard vertical mode!
its all in all a super-nice GPS software!!

Dear readers,
I got newly a samsung omnia. At first the TomTom software did not work with my mobile but i searched the internet and found some solutions for that. Here I write what I did to fix this problem. To mention it again TomTom6 navigation software is working with my samsung omnia mobile.

The samsung omnia have a Built-in GPS receiver but the problem is that TomTom software doesn't understand the language of this kind of receiver. So to communicate we need for a third party software to transilate the receiving signals to TomTom6.

There are two free and one pay sofwares which help you get the TomTom6 working:

Free: PortSplitter and GPSProxy
Pay: GPSgate

First you install one of them and configure it and then start your TomTom software. It works so simple.

Note: I tried PortSplitter and GPSProxy but i was getting some kind of error telling me to install first some kind of .cab file first. but the GPSgate worked without problem.

Any question? reply me. If know about it i will be happy to help.

Success people

please post your EXACT settings for external GPS, enhanced GPS, PortSplitter and TomTom7!
I have TT7 and everything that your have on my omnia but still can't get it to work.
Hoping to fix it with your help!
Thanks in advance!

I use Garmin V5. Works straight out of the box and supports Omnias sensor as well.
According to Nav N Go website there is a special Omnia version of iGO8. Apparently, but I have not tried it yet the July 3oth version of iGO works in portrait and landscape.

Your TomTom6 needs a third party software to receive the gps sigals and then let it to be used by TomTom6 or other gps navigations.
Here I write down how did I configure it to work in my samsung omnia.

Note:I have a samsung omnia nederlandse version and I am using TomTom6 with combination with GpsGate 2.6.

1.Samsung Omnia Configuration:
1.2- Go to your samsung omnia MainMenu and then click on configuration icon.
1.3-Click on System tab on Configuration page(it is located at the bottom of page).
1.4-Click on the External GPS icon.
   1.5-Click the programma's tab(if not chosen already).
   1.6-Choose COM4 from GPS-Programmaport ( from drop down menu).
1.7-Click on Hardware tab(at the bottom of page).
   1.8-Set the GPS-Hardwareport to COM9 ( if not already set to COM9).
1.9-Set the Baudrate to 4800 ( if not already set to 4800).
1.10-Go to the next tab and choose the GPS  automatically administer ( if not already chosen).
1.11-Click on the OK button on the top of your configuration page.

2-GpsGate 2.6 installation:
2.1-Download and install GpsGate 2.6 in your samsung omnia mobile from here ( http://franson.com/gpsgate/download.asp?file=GpsGatePPC.ARM.CAB&platform=winxp ) .
2.2-Go to your programs on your samsung omnia and click on the GpsGate 2.6 . You will be presented with configurations page(if a popup menu opens click on settings).
2.3-Click on the wizard button on the bottom right side of your gps configuration page.
2.4-Choose only Wired or built in GPS fromt he Search Options list.
2.5- Click on > button(sign). Now your samsung omnia will search for a valid gps port. and will present you with a pop up menu telling that it finds a COM4 ... do you want to use it. Click on OK

button. You will be presented with Select OUT PUT page.
2.6-Choose Share with NMEA applications from OUT PUT list.( if not already selected).
2.7-Click the > button (sign). You will be presented with pop up info page.
2.8-Click on ok button on the popup info page.
2.9-Now click on the Finish button on Summary page.

Now your GpsGate 2.6 program is configured to receive Gps signals.

2.11-Click on OK button to exit GpsGate 2.6 configuration page.

3-TomTom6 Configuration:
3.1-Open your TomTom6 mobile navigation program.
3.2-Tap on the page to go to Main Menu of TomTom6.
   3.3-Click on Chanage preferences.
3.4-Click on Show GPS status iocn.
   3.5-Click on Configure button.
3.6-Choose "Other NMEA GPS receiver"  from the list.
   3.7-Click on Select button.
3.8-Set the "GPS baud rate" to 4800.
   3.9-Click on "Done" button.
3.10-Choose the "Franson COM1" from the GPS is connected to: list . You will be back to GPS status page.
   3.11-Click on Done  button.

Wala. Your TomTom6 is ready to receive GPS signal and explore the unknown places.

do u have any questions yet?post it on. I try to answer it as soon as i got time.

Thanks to every one helping us understanding the new technology better.

Guys...don't bother with TomTom on Omnia. I have tried it and the navigation is so slow it is unusable. Use iGO8 or Garmin V5.00.20. They both work fine. As I said above Sep 1st version works unchanged and it wil not react to sensor but it will open to whatever mode your screen is when you start the program. You must set it to use device orientation. Garmin even reacts to screen sensor.

because, tomtom just support 320*XXX or 200*XXX screen size.

Omnia has 400*200 so,tomtom work with landscape mode.

thanks,
