well the #1 reason is after having 9 windows mobile smartphones in the last 10 years.
i just HATE the new start menu.
it is driving me crazy. if i could go back to the old menu only i might keep the rom.
#2 i dont know who thought that changing the entire way to access settings was a good idea, but i find it a massive pain to do any setting changes now.
i have started 4 wrong apps out of 10 tries with the finger friendly menus and start menu. i used to do better with my fingernail and wm 5
its not all bad. but enough is bad that i would go back to 6.1 in a minute.

(while im ranting, if mircosoft thinks ill use a "live id" just to buy software on marketplace they can think again, maybe if they used open id)

so in summery, finger friendly smartmenus, settings menus, navigation, and a overall feeling of not being faster with a 400mhz increase in processor power.
(last phone was a htc touch pro)

they are the reasons i wish i had gotten an old bell omina 2 i8000 with windows mobile 6.1

other than the start menu (i believe someone wrote a program somewhere for it)  the rest of your issues are easily adjusted.  and your settings icon can be easily returned to do it the old way too...  look in the how what where section and check out the tweaks...      but if all  fails find me the rom numbers  and ill see what i can pull from samsung....

i have found a possible download of the Canadian bell mobility 6.1 rom.
( it might be real it might not)
it was uploaded by someone who dumped his rom before he upgraded.

now all i have to do is find a WM emulation (i recall that there was a windows mobile one somewhere) verify that the download is real and i can find out the info you need to know
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ill keep you posted on my progress

thank you for the help

Test it before you post a link in case it bricks the phone.

this is where i found the link
http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000-omnia-ii-gsm-rom-discussion/300843/rom-bell-omnia-ii-original-i8000l-i8000lugij6-pda/

there are reports there about it
it has all the info i have
im not about to try flashing it to my phone.
and neither should anyone else.

which is why im looking for a emulator
http://www.nogeekleftbehind.com/2009/06/23/download-windows-mobile-65-emulator/
close but no cigar

the replacement phone i picked up yesterday seems faster then my first one
but i think 6.1 would still be faster

link looks fine....   you could use the samsung firmware downloader too to find roms....

honestly ive had both and 6.5 is faster...  much faster...  a few tweaks and its really nice....find a custom pda (lite) and add what you want to it and you are zooming fast...

and YES ID LIKE A COOKIE!!!   LOL Tongue

BTW  ive probably had every version of the roms from 6.1 to  all the 6.5's

6.5 ..6.5.3.. 6.5.5...   all up to JE2   so i know a rom or two Wink

if i could just replace the stupid start menu i would be so much happier.
i found one cab file  and it just made a list of all programs finger friendly in list form

it is a massive pain to scroll to the bottom of the start menu just to find the last installed app, (then i found out that i could move them to the top)
but still scrolling through all that mess just to find an app
and no way to organize it.. (with out massive work)

i am using a 5 in a row mod now and it helps a bit...

after i get my phone unlocked
ill look at custom roms.
till then im going to have to start asking bell every two day to get one.

from what i have been able to understand from research.
for whatever reason. the Canadian bell omnia 2 is a major pain to have unlocked
from anyone but bell. (and their 74$ fee)
i have talked to a few unlockers and they have all said with bell its a 2 in 5 chance
it will unlock. but they have no problems with locked omnia2's from elsewhere in the world.
(bell doesn't care if you hspa phone is from bell to work on their network)

but ill call the man up and see what he has to say.
