Hey man, Tx for effort, but the rom is buggy ( Naked JF5 ).
When in CHome interface ( windows default on Items on Today ) the clock, appoiments and maibe more are not working.  I think it needs to replace the Splugins.cpr, haven't tried yet.

Cheers.

Okay...it's been a while since I've tried flashing my i8000 (since my last attempt was a complete fail) but I am attracted to the feedback on this one and I'm thinking I might have another try. I just hate my provider's ROM with a passion.

Before I do flash though I want to be sure that there's nothing I should do first because I've read elsewhere that sometimes you need to almost do a double flash to a particular cooked ROM first before flashing again to the desired one (Am I even making any sense???).

Can anyone see anything in my sig that would prevent me from moving to this ROM?

Well I've had a weekend or so to play with this ROM and I have to say that my Omnia i8000 has never run better. I can't believe how smooth and fast it is now. I chose to go with the naked ROM so that I could build up my preferred suite of apps and with SPB Mobile Shell doing the heavy lifting on my home screen my Omnia rocks!!

I have swapped out some of the short cut icons that Rapid has used in his ROM with the SPB ones (eg Bluetooth switch, WiFi Switch) and I am finding that I can accomplish things in one touch rather than two or three which is awesome.

Never have I had so much RAM to play with. Battery life is at least 150% better across the board. I went three days w/o putting it on to charge (and for me that's unheard of) and I have yet to soft reset it at all.

My god this is a good ROM. Thanks very much Rapid!!

I told you rapid has the nicest and smoothest running lite 90% stock rom out there.  his other ventures in the touch flo and sense are nice too but for just a really nice reliable rom   his naked series cant be beat

I just skinned my SPB MS with a Windows Phone 7 theme I got from XDA Developers and it is seriously lovely. Very smooth and fast.

Thank you Val!  Smiley  Your posts have been very helpful for me in the last few months since purchasing my first smartphone (omnia II). I have recently put SPB 3.5.5. on my phone, which is a nice improvement. Sounds like Rapid's JF5 naked rom is a highly reccomended companion?

1) What does Rapid's rom do? Does it just get rid of lots of unnecessary programs to make the phone operate faster?

2) Even after reading up on 'flashing' I am still very confused in regards to flashing Rapid's JF5 naked rom and where to start. Do you know of a good forum with instructions on flashing Rapid's rom?  Any programs for the flashing job your recommend?

Cheers,

Instruction:

1. download ROM for Omnia 2  ( i.e. rom name = I8000NXJF5.nb0 / Start with naked roms  Wink)

2. turn off the phone

3. install CDMA drivers ( download attachment for CDMA and octans )

4. open Octans and select .NB0 file and select the image ( rom.nb0 )
( if you decide to flash the CSC file too press .CSC file too and choose CSC )

5. Do not erase My Storage ( or erase if want, this format My Storage partiton from phone )

6. Hit Detect

7. with the phone turned off, connect it to usb and wait until START button in Octans became available.

8. Hit start and wait untile it's done ( the phone will restart itself 1 or 2 times )

flashing only PDA w w/o CSC part it's safe. if error flashing, restart from 1. if phone not responding, take out battery and put back.

Rapi's ROM are faster than original one, but some small errors.

You can try all roms for O2 and decide wich suits you. ( good luck )

very welcome gucci!!  im using the je rom but the jf is just newer...   his naked roms are basically stock roms stripped down of crappy programs / bloatware....he adds a few mild sweet tweaks and thats it...  he has all of the programs cab files if theres something he took out that you want to reinstall....   it just gives you a phone that can breathe....  really operate like it was intended...   good luck with it!!

Wow, thanks for the very clear instructions NoNam3 ! I have just finished flashing my i8000l for the first time. I used a pure JG5 rom by Sh.a.rk, which is a modification of Rapid's. I think it is more stripped down... maybe too striped down.  The one thing I wish I could get back was the program to register for divX, because now I have to play my stuff through CorePlayer which I don't find appealing.

if anyone could share how to get that divX registration program back that would be awesome!

On my i8000l, I have the JG5 pure rom, combined with SPB Shell, together it is a very nice phone. Also installed is Vostramous's Mobile Shell Manager.

Thanks to this site I now have a great affordable phone. Cheers

First time to flash ROM on my i8000. Had a hard time using computer on Win7, problem in detecting the phone using octans even after installing the right modem driver.

Used the WinXP computer and no sweat installed in less than 10min.

Hello. Ive got a few questions. I want to flash my Omnia 2, but i have never done this before, and I'm somewhat afraid that I might mess something up. What are the chances of bricking the phone or doing this incorrectly? Second question is when flashing do I have to reinstall windows, or update it, install anything else like drivers or something like formatting a comp? or do i just initialize the downloaded rom and let it do its own thang? Also, when downloading from that link, 4shared, do i have to download everything separately? seems as if it will not allow me to download the whole folder if i dont pay for it. Thanks.
