I 'think' he means that he's using this ROM with no region check.

I've used it for about a year without any problems. It has extra space because some stuff has been removed (never need that stuff) and it's good on battery. But I would highly recommend SPB Shell, it makes the phone loads more user friendly.   Wink  Grin

Yeah already got spb on mine and it does make it a lot better then stock ui.  Just need to get battery usage sorted out because i can barely use the phone for anything other then a few texts and half hour of calls at the minute.  Am planning on buying some new batterys as well as the ones i have being a couple of years olds probably arn't the best.  Know what i want to do now all i have to do is get back home and get to it whihc hopefully won't be much longer.  Thanks for the help guys having tried other forums trust me just getting a response is good let alone some actual helpful suggestions Smiley.

I suppose you have cut down the backlight time and set it to auto adjust not max brightness. To adjust the screen times click on the battery icon, the backlight icon can be put on your screen via the add a widget option in SPB Shell, just scroll down in the first widget selection screen. Also checking for new E-mail regularly drains the battery so it's best to set it to less frequent, it you use this option. I have used Skype for over an hour via WiFi but the battery was only 6 months old at the time.

@ RizlaKing

Try flashing the latest phone.exe part

Same method as flashing ROM.....

look here; first few posts.......it will improve battery considrably, as i assume you are on an old one, if not oiginal phone part??

http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general-omnia-rom-discussion/304283/i900-phone-parts-in-exe-here/

Recommend PUJA1 as its the newest (i think - not had Omnia for a good while now Wink).

good luck

Thanks Shokka from what i have read it is flashing the phone part that is the riskiest thing to do and thats when most people brick their phone which i am not keen to do lol.  As it was a contract phone would i be able to take it to a samsung service centre and have them update the firmware even if it means paying a small fee for them to do it.  Normally i don't have a problem with stuff like this and have updated firmware on various components in my pc but reading on forums makes it sound like using vista 64 and flashing phones is not the best thing and has made me a little bit worried.  Does anyone know of a service i can use in the uk if the service centre won't do it that i could pay to get it done and have that little piece of mind ?.

If you're worry and do not want to take the risk, then it is wise to let the technician from Samsung Service Center do it.

Provided that they have the latest Official Firmware release, they'll be happy to do it for you FOC.

You're welcome RiziaKing,

In fact, a standard firmware is good enough for daily use.

With some TWEAKS and MODIFIACTIONS, I would say it's almost perfect.

I use a slightly cut down version of a standard ROM with SPB Shell and I'm very happy with it.

If you haven't got these already here's some things that you need:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e3821449-3c6b-42f1-9fd9-0041345b3385&displaylang=en

Or are useful:
TorchButtonOmnia (cab below) you can out a torch on/off button on your screen.

MoDaCo.OmniaTHREAD (below) turn off thread messaging without doing a reg edit. Look for "Omnia THR.." in the programs screen.

dwruler (below) puts a ruler on your screen which you can calibrate to make it accurate.

http://www.sportypal.com/ Helps you workout how far your local pub is and how many calories you burned after you have walked there. Takes ages to get a GPS lock the 1st time but is faster if you 1st get a lock using Google maps, so I was told. GPS uses the battery quite fast though.

Hi guys sorry been away for a bit thought i would come back with an update.  Local samsung centre (carphone warehouse) wouldn't help said ebay receipt was not good enough and they would not do anything so had to flash the phone myself.  Using the clean DXIA5 image i followed all the instructions and flashing went smoothly phone is now updated Smiley will be seeing in the next couple of days how different it is for battery and stuff but right now well happy and relieved.  Thanks so much all of you for the help and support it did help.
