Well my thought was when i had HTC with WM 6.0  HTC offered a free update for 6.1 so why not offer a free update for 6.5?

dunno bro...

The standard OS/CE for Omnia is 20270. WM6.5 is anything above 21139 i think. There are newer SYS & XIP available.

For Omnia, we port over what we can. I will be releasing DXIA5 with 20954 (i like it) later today. The links i provided are for 21139 and newer.

However, they are always based on anything from 20270 and upwards just to get it working. So they will never be TRUE WM6.5.

I know what you mean, but Microsoft are not happy providing older devices with newer OS, for them it is more R&D (more costs), so they will not do it.

Its all about money and how much they can get from us! If they did do an update, i can almost guarantee that it will be at a cost to us, the user.

We shall see eh, next 6 months....

Jig, I don't think its a big lost to us, no much difference between 6.1 & 6.5

I also want to know why WinMo doesnt support capacitive display? They only support resistive touch screens which must be used with stylus. I think that is the reason why the new omnia is Symbian and not WinMo because it has an capacitive display.

just to clarify..

My ROMs are always based on standard ROMs (in the DXIA5 case, this is based on the Official ROM from Samsung).

Just look in the kitchen for further info!

Take care folks..

This thread is purely for Standard/Official ROMs (firmware)

OK chef, that's clear as day!!

SHK16 is out....   gee, i'm not even through tinkering with SHK15 and an update is out already.

should I or should I not..... Smiley

OK. let's jump in the kitchen and have a taste of the new dish courtesy of chef shokka9...

downloading now.

Need some help. I am from Australia but by phone version (PDA: i900DXHH3, PHONE: i900DXHH3).
I don't see any updates for Australia so i tried those from Countries with DX versions (like Indonesia and Philippines) but i got an Incorrect Software Version error.

Can somebody in this forum help me and if possibly give me some procedures on how to upgrade my unit.

Thanks!

Hi thejigsaw, sorry for that. my PDA section only say i900DXHH3 (nothing more).

I bought this unit in a supplier from Melbourne. I am trying to upgrade to the lastest version from the link you provided but i'm getting Incorrect Software version error.

That is why i am asking if you might have some idea on how to go about this.

Thanks,

Try using GrandPrix. Here is how i managed to update from one to another firmware 100% working but a little harder method. http://www.samsung-omnia.org/rom-discussion/independent-rom/ also another user from this forum used this method and he succedded with the update.

thanks thejigsaw. I was able to upgrade my omnia using GrandPrix but only the LOADER, PDA, CSC are successful. The PHONE failed. I tried updating the PHONE only but still got the same error.

Here's the Log:

EBoot version=01.37
Start downloading...
PHONE-Switching USB to PHONE...
PHONE-COM5 detected
PHONE-Attempting to open COM 5...
PHONE-Create COM 5 succeed...
PHONE-Opening COM 5 succeed...
PHONE-Jump failed...

Can somebody in this forum has encountered the same problem and may have idea on how to deal with this problem?

Looking forward to hearing from you guys. TY

I finally did it! weew!

I now have my PDA : i900DXIA5/DZIA5, PHONE: i900DXIA2.

Here what i did:
1) Download the official samsung omnia updater for Singapore.
2) Run the i900_EXEcutor.exe to separate the LOADER, PDA, CSC, and PHONE binaries.
3) Run the USDL_GrandPrix_v1.6.4_VISTA.EXE and populate the LOADER, PDA, CSC, and PHONE boxes with the binaries from step 2.
4) Click Detect and turn on the phone.
5) Downloading begin..... This is where i got my 1st problem. The PHONE update failed.

6) Disconnect the cable and reset the phone.
7) Check the PDA version and it's now updated. But PHONE version still i900DXHH3.
Cool Turn off the phone.
9) Get back to the original samsung omnia updater exe file and run it.
10) Activate the Window Mobile Device Center and Turn On "Allow USB Connections" and "Allow data connections on device when connected to PC"
11) Tick the 2 check boxes, turn on your and click verify device.
12) A prompt with Incorrect Software Version will still appear. Click Ok.
13) It will download something (not sure what it is but may the boot loader).
14) it will prompt you to manually turn on your phone. I tried turning on and off, but nothing happened.
15) Exit the omnia updater and turn off the phone.
16) Run again the omnia updater and instead of the 2 check boxes we now have 3. The 1st 1 say for emergeny update only. leave that one unticked but tick the other 2.
17) Click on Verify Device and turn on your phone.
18) Downloading will start... from 1st to 6th files. Just wait until completed.
19) All done.

Thanks thejigsaw!
