Seems like there are several posts about people getting MMS to work on their Omnia.  Has anyone on the Telus network found out how to get it working?  Would unlocking my phone help?

Thanks,

I would sure like to know also, I have made many calls to Telus's tech's and that's going no where.  A buddy of mine bought the omnia through bell and his phone has mms ready to go on it.  Telus has somehow deleted or changed registry values to deactivate it.  Does anyone have any ideas how I can copy the mms registry from bell's omnia so that I can add it to mine so I can have the option of MMS messageing? Or is there a simple .CAB file that I can download and install on my phone?  I tried the arcsoft MMS program and it didn't work.  I'm sure that everyone that has an omnia with Telus would love to know how to activate/install something so we can send and recieve MMS!!!! Try this out.  It's a half solution to your problem.

I've been trying to make this work since I first got my HTC P4000 (Titan) over a year and a half ago... never had any success.  Frankly, I don't hold out any hope for Telus ever caring to fix it.  When her contract is up in about 16 months, my wife will be bailing on Telus - she wants a Blackberry, and she insists on MMS, so she'll be off to Fido.  I'll probably be right behind her once my contract is up as well; I'm sick of having a $500 phone that my carrier has intentionally crippled and tried to sell users on a broken hack like "Snap".... then have them try to feed me BS like "Well, NO PDA-type phone can do picture messaging".

I got this to work on my Telus Omnia "WM6_threaded.cab" but the problem is when you are in threaded mode and bring up the keyboard it covers up the screen. It does not make the screen "shift" upwards. At least on mine it works like this. I think it may be made for a phone with a physical keyboard.

Wait... you have MMS actually working with Telus???  Is that using the server settings from the XDA link??

Sorry I should clarify, I installed the cab, texts work fine, didn't try the MMS. I did put in the settings form the XDA link but have not tried them.

Note: I can not UNINSTALL this. The phone will not uninstall it all the way.

Updated the above-linked XDA thread: I uninstalled the Palm threaded-MMS app (it did appear to uninstall cleanly, BTW) and installed an older Arcsoft distro (PPCGeeksSprintMMS)... AND IT WORKS!

Check it out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4172283&postcount=19

I think on the whole I'd prefer the Palm app over the Arcsoft, but it doesn't seem to get along with the Omnia (gets the "out of memory" error if you try to actually attach anything to a message).

And yes, the keyboard covering the entry area would be a pain too... yycguy, I think you're right: if you look up the registry keys related to that app, it's all under a "Palm" tree... I believe this comes from a WM Palm, probably a Treo of some variety, which naturally has a hardware keyboard.

I could not uninstall it for the life of me. I searched everything to uninstall, find WM6.1 SMS files, or somehow make the Omnia "restore" the files and nothing. I had to do a hard reset (not too happy with and wish I had that 3 hours back).

I am not saying that everyone will have a problem, but I would use caution. I should have backed up everything first, but I thought this was easy.

Let me know if you try the MMS and it works... the program just gives me the "out of memory" error when I try to send a message with any multimedia content.

Found a much newer version of Arcsoft, and it installs and integrates very nicely, but it doesn't want to send at all... just gives a "could not be sent" error.  However, I *DID* manage to send a pic to my wife's KRZR with the older Arcsoft!

There's a thread on XDA about "Tiny MMS" on the Omnia... I'm assuming Samsung does actually have their own MMS app, or MMS-capable version of the messaging app, and it's just been crippled in the Telus phone.  There was a fair bit of chat on migrating the Verizon settings to the Samsung MMS registry key to enable it...

Strange... after a hard reset last night (that'll learn me for hacking around in the registry without a backup), I tried installing this cab again, and lo and behold, I can't remove it again.

I have an idea WHY... but no idea how to get around it (yet! - I refuse to be defeated!)

lol Yeah I wouldn't recomend anyone to DL and install that link posted by Izuzu, that file doesn't work propperly with the Omnia actually screwed up the phone, can't uninstall, and having to do a hard reset I lost all my contacts!  And Soundy my wifes blackberry curve with BELL does have MMS messageing on it.  I'm with you guys, this is my last contract with Telus, even after a telus tech lies to you and says that your $500 phone can do anything except 5 year old technology like sending a MMS message which is BS. Thay surely don't make that known to you when buying the phone, and then won't do a return on it, basically tell you that your stuck with that phone and if you want out of the contract It'll be $20 per month for however many months left on your contract!  Hopefully someone out there will find a working fix for the Omnia phones.

I'm pissed off, it DID work, ONCE, with the older (v3.x) Arcsoft... now I can't get it to go again.  Wish I could figure out why.

when you guys are saying you got it to work once...do you mean PICTURE messaging or just the Arcsoft txt messaging?  I'm so confused!

Looks like Telus's server is expecting a data and from-address in the header... so I guess I'm looking for those in the Arcsoft registry tree.  Anyone have any insights here??
