Hey guys,

Kay so i got the GPS working and all, everything is good (i can see the lat/long in the NAV program) but when i load up the camera, even when its connected to the GPS (little satellite turns white) it only gets the coordinates for latitude and leaves longitude at 0000 (and no i'm the carrib/canada/us so never even near 0').

I have the i900DXHG4 software bundle. I'm wondering if someone else out there could try it out for me, and see if its across all the OMNIA's? or if its just a problem with my camera software and if you guys actually get proper longitude/latitude coordinates in your pictures (you can see it if you tap the "i" on the right side in picture review)

Thanks guys

Same here - no longitude readings. Originally, I couldn't get the GPS to work in camera-mode at all, so I 'phoned Vodafone, who immediately bounced me onto Samsung, who recommended downloading LOCR software (see http://www.locr.com/downloads). Not exactly an elegent solution but it does at least get the satellite icon to light-up. However, it will only do this when the LOCR app is running in the background, which doesn't seem an ideal fix to me. On top of this, I can only get readings on altitude and latitude. It's not exactly the end of the world but it would, nevertherless, be nice to have a phone that actually does what the marketing blurb says it can. Anybody out there with a potential fix for this one?

humm i get the icon to show up and using igo8 i know its picking up both lat/long from the GPS its just the software for the camera doesn't seem to be able to get the information completely. i didn't install any additional app for it to work in camera mode, although keep in mind the GPS if not used regularly takes some time to pick up signal properly, i usually run GPS software where i can track the sat's then once it does open up the camera and use it since its already got the sat's on lock...

I was really looking forward to this feature, i travel quite a bit around the world as well soo it'd be nice to keep GPS tags on the pics themselves of where they were taken and stuff... i really hope they fix it soon enough considering it is one of the things they "brag" about with the phone

That's a good point - no doubt it's is already mentioned somewhere on this site but does www.samsung-omnia.org have any direct connection with Samsung? For example, do any of their Windows Mobile Team blog or pick-up/answer questions here?

I also have the same problem with Vodafone's ACHH3 firmware. Is there a fix for this?

If anyone is interested, I have managed to patch the camera executable to fix the problem with the Longitude always being 0. I live in the UK (near the Greenwich meridian) and it seemed that negative values of Longitude do not work correctly.

Looking at how the GPS data was handled by the camera application, when west of the meridian the JPEG file was being populated with negative values for degrees, minutes and seconds although the 'W' was being correctly set. This probably confused most software that attempts to read the position data. My patch ensures that the values are always positive whilst still correctly setting 'E' or 'W'.

I haven't looked but I imagine exactly the same problem is present with the Latitude in the Southern hemisphere.

I have a UK T-Mobile branded Omnia, ROM version BOHH5. I have a small problem with signing the camera application at the moment but when that's solved I can probably send the patched version to interested parties. If there is enough interest then I can attempt to fix the N/S Latitude issue as well.

Hi FieldofCows (what an interesting username)

I too live in the UK.  It really peeves me off that you buy something which has its marketed features and yet it doesn't work.  I am sure thats false marketing!!!

Either way, I have the same problem where the GEOTAGGING isn't working for Pictures.... would be great if you could upload the patch which resolves this  Grin

it never worked on the HH series of ROMs i believe. I have never tested on anything since HH.

But i think it was fixed in the HI series of ROMs.
