I believe I need to hard reset my i908.  Please let me know how to do it.

I have learnt that hard reset only removes all installed programs and user settings and back to factory default settings in ROM and the 16 GB RAM remains intact.  Can someone confirm it.

Thanks!!

See here >>>

39. How to perform a Hard Reset using the hard keys:

***If you encounter some problems & after several attempts still no improvement, try the Hard Reset to return to factory settings. Back up your stuff first before the Hard Reset if you choose to reformat your Storage***

1.Press soft reset hole beside the power button.
2.Press Call and Cancel Button together when you see the Samsung Omnia on the screen.
3.Reset Screen appear with "Are you sure you want to format? Format or Cancel".
This hard reset does not erase the 8/16GB memory. To reset everything, use
the software hard reset > Settings/System/Hard Reset.
There is also option to format the storage card.

61.Hard reset using the software Hard Reset

***If you encounter some problems & after several attempts still no improvement, try the software Hard Reset to return to latest flash FW setting. Back up your stuff first before the Hard Reset if you choose to format your Storage***

1.Settings/System/Hard Reset
2.Hard Reset options will appear on the screen for
  a.Main Memory - Reset
  b.My Storage - Reset
  c.Storage Card - Format

Sorry to resurrect an old post, but I have tried both of these methods to no avail.  Search didn't pull any further information up.

I have the VZW i910.  Basically, with the button option, I pressed the soft reset button, then when the screen says Samsung Omnia, I pushed both call and end buttons (buttons to left and right of the trackpad). The phone just boots up.  No reset options.  I have tried this several times.

With the software option, it pops up asking me to enter the unlock code and select yes to reset.  I assume this is asking for the lock code that I set to lock/unlock the screen.  Well, that one doesn't work.  I tried changing the code as well as setting no lock code.  None of these work.  It looks to want six characters but the simple code I set was only four.  I tried a six digit code, and that didn't work either.  Any clue as to what code I should be using?  It doesn't seem like it should be this hard to hard reset the thing.

Thanks.

This is exactly why I despise Windoze devices in general and Verizon phones in particular:  they never ever make anything easy or user-friendly.  All I needed was that darn unlock code, no one ever told me how to do it (even though I was in the Verizon store just yesterday, exchanging my Omnia for the SECOND time), and I had to go online to this forum to find out what that code was.  Such a simple thing, the last 4 digits of your cell number.  Why don't they ever tell you anything?Huh?  Thanks guys, for being the only reliable source on this phone pretty much anywhere.

Gak... hard reset is not working for me either.

I tweaked something I shouldn't have in the registry and now the phone won't boot - I get the Omnia splash, then the Telus splash... and there it sits endlessly.

Obviously, I can't get to the "software" reset.  I've tried this hardware method, without success.  The progress bar on the Omnia splash moves slowly while I'm holding the buttons, but after a few seconds it just continues on to the Telus splash.  I've tried a number of suggested variations, such as holding the buttons WHILE hitting reset, hitting reset and waiting for the Omnia splash before hitting the buttons, taking the battery out and then holding the buttons while powering on, holding the buttons lightly, holding the buttons down hard... all to no avail.

Heeeeeeeellllpppp!!!

Edit: Oh suuuuure, immediately after posting this, I tried again, removing the battery, then holding the buttons lightly while powering on... and it worked.  Stupid phone, making a liar out of me!

Telus user here as well, looking for a fresh start with my phone and sure enough it was the last 4 digits of my number. Like fool I couldn't get it to work for a few mins from the menus because I was using the last 4 digits of my house phone number! Hahaha....

You just can't cure stupid!
