Again, as you can read above, my phone is fixed now, but still thanks for asking Smiley. The bad thing about it, which I actually did not expect at all, is that all the contacts on my phone are lost... It would be nice if someone had at least warned me, or if it was written somewhere on the pages you gave me, in BIG letters... but ey, it does work again. So again, how about language packs?

First: Can you please go to Start > Settings > System > Version and tell me your phone and pda version.

Second: For the language packs i am waiting for shokka to write something because he and some sweden guy ware looking in creating a custom swedish rom so i think they spoke about some language pack's I'll ask him if to explain me some more.... Which language are you interested in?

For the cotnacts you are right i guessed that you know that Flashing a Rom or Upgrading a rom which is same thing means deleting everything from the phone and installing new Software on the firmware.... Sad

...and has to be unlocked by twice pressing unlock on the screen....

just FYI, you can unlock the Omnia the very same way you locked it, by keeping the "End Call" button pressed.

I believe if you have used your activesync (and sycned your contacts to your pc) before you flashed your omnia...it's possible that you can still retrieve all your contacts.

@ Thejigsaw: It seems as if the flashing has been a succes. The new PDA version is i900XIA5/DXIA5, the phone is i900BOHK1, so the phone has not changed. Is this good or bad?

As to the language packs, I would be interested in having one with the language Dutch (Netherlands). However, if somehow possible, I would not mind translating it myself. Yes, I know it is a lot of work, but if he could figure out a simple way to do that (just give me one file with all the textstrings for example) I would like to participate in a Dutch version Smiley

And no, I apparently did not know that Tongue But it has happened now, now way to return it. I had too many old contacts anyway Tongue

@ TomcatMVD: Yes I also figured out that you can unlock it again the same way, but thanks for telling Smiley

@ dzerry75: It could be possible. However, I have not set up my outlook on this pc, and thus the outlook-contacts have not been synced, and thus are not on my computer. But thanks, I had not thought about that...

you keep the old Phone version that's not a big problem but i advice you to change to the DXIA5's phone version which is currently DXIA2 i will tell you later how to do that i am on work now, still waiting for shokka9 to tell me what he knows about language packs. I've heard that the phone part is the one most responsible about battery consumption. so that's why i advice you.

Ok, I would like to hear how it is to be done. This time I will first back up my contacts before flashing Wink By the way, If I turn off the phone and turn it on again, I do see something like 8! , which I think should represent a phone and an exclamation mark. It stays there for like 5 seconds, and than just happily boots on. I have read people complaining about it, is it harmfull?

 Shocked

It (phone with "!" during reboot)also happened to my omnia. Next thing I knew my phone's network was locked. Did you also have the same result?

No, I don't have that problem here. Or well, at least I don't think I have, because I have not tried to put in any other SIM-card yet. However, My omnia was originally T-Mobile locked, but I have no problems at all with my Vodafone sim-card (I was also able to use it before flashing though...) So other than the startup delay of +- 5 seconds, I have not found any other problems. And I guess that if your phone is locked, you could try http://www.samsung-omnia.org/how-to/how-to-unlock-your-omnia-(confirmed-working!)/

I guess in your case that link could help you when your omnia gets locked. It didn't work on mine. For some reasons I can't be proud of.  Wink That's why everytime I flash my omnia, I always remove the Phone part update.  Lips Sealed Oh well, goodluck on your flashing.  Wink

Ok here is the thing the Exclamation mark and phone comes up because the phone part isn't updated and isnt compatible with the pda part to update the phone part do this

Go to Microsoft Mobile Device Center and enable Allow USB conections like it was enabled before you start updating. Then install some registry editor program on the phone and open the registry editor and Go to a registry: HKCU > ControlPanel \ Version
find a key named CustomVersion.  Change it's value from DXIA5 to DXHK3 Save the key. DONT restart your phone. Go to http://www.samsungmobile.com/support/omnia/index.jsp  download the Philippines rom for vista. And run to update it as you would update normally. That will fix the problem for you. And the exclamation mark will be gone. So basically what we are doing here is that you already have DXIA5 so you have DX class of rom so that Incorrect Version error is skiped but another will show when you try updating with the original updater saying that you already have the latest rom. So basically with the regedit we are telling the phone to lie that has previous version of DX series and then the updater will install. If there are new updates for DX in features you can just download the original and install no more need of hard tricks. But that's only for DX series.

You are a second guy that reporting to me out of 20 or more that has this problem with phone network lock after flashing i'll investigate that.

If you want to fix the exclamation mark read the post before this.

Tell me if you have a sim card on which the phone network is locked, i'll instruct you how to unlock it.
EDIT: Oh i see you know the link how to unlock the phone but it isn't working. That's because you must have put sim card on which the network is locked and then to that procedure.

Ok, thank you for the explanation. However, I went to the site, downloaded the philipines version (I entered that I lived in the philippines) vow windows vista and ran it. The problem is that I keep getting the error that I have an incorrect software version, it also says please check device. What to do, what to do? Oh btw i have changed back the version number afterwards, so I can turn it of again (not likely, but never know when my battery is going to die...)
