Thanks Mudvayne622!!  Totally worked.  Now I need to change my message and email alerts...hints...

It's weird because when I changed my Pwr_On and Pwr_Off sounds they didn't work.  I can go into the Total Commander and play them, but when I turn the phone off and on, nothing.  No sound.

Same happens when I try to change my email/text notifications.  The phone won't even play the sounds in the Notifications menu.  They're there and I can play them from My Storage and from Total Commander, but otherwise the sounds won't play.

Sometimes the Omnia won't play sounds if the compression or bit rate is a little off. Although in your case its slightly odd your having those problems with a few different sounds.

The problem with the sounds not playing in the notification page is very strange. I have not run into this before. Do they play when u receive a email or text? I know sometimes my text and email sound doesnt work occasionally.  If your looking for a great alarm program try G-Alarm. Google it, amazing alarm worth the money considering the Windows alarm never seems to work.  If you want post the sounds you are trying to use and i will give them a try. Any other questions u have that are off topic from the startup/shutdown screens shoot me a PM and i will try and help if i can.

geniusnoob,

the omniapatchdialer works great, thanks!!!!

One small, very small compared to having to hit the key to activate the dialpad again, quibble is that the keypad keys along the right-hand side are now blank, they don't show what function they do anymore.

I can certainly live with that, but if you do have an updated one with the functions of those keys on them, that would be even more awesome!

Thanks again, great work!   Saves us REAL newbies a lot of trouble  Grin

I Found that 11 Seconds works perfect. Give that a try

How/where do i set the 11 seconds time?  I have tried the gifs linked above and they stop after about 2 seconds instead of playing all the way through. where do i change this time/play length please?

if anyone is interested, here is my startup screen and sound.  the picture is small because i couldn't figure out a way to resize it without the image looking too distorted.

oh and i know if you click to preview it, it flashes by in less than a second, but on start up it runs longer, and actually syncs pretty well with the sound file

Guys, I have the bst start up screen ever but has a 2.9mb weight and I'm trying to reduce it with no luck so far. Initially was 4.5mb but 2.9mb was as far as I can go.

Does any one know of any application to reduce the animated gif weight? I want to publish the final result here as soon as I reduce the size.

Cheers mates.

ELArcangel...

Presumably you have you already "Optimized" the animation.
You could also try removing duplicate frames and adjust the frame rate timing of the others to
compensate for animation speedup...

-You could reduce the total number of colours in the animation (if it doesn't look to bad after) to reduce kb's.
-You could reduce the dpi of the animation (may make it look "grainy") to reduce kb's.

Failing that, some ani's cannot be reduced any further without a significant drop in display quality.

Attach it here with your next post or email it to me if you would like me to "have a look at it" for you

I did search software to automatically optimize the gif but didn't find any. Could you suggest one?
Manually I changed form aprox 240 colors to 96. There are no duplicate frames to remove.
Can you explain how to reduce DPI on a animated gif? I saw that to be done on each frame bur that will mean to recreate the animated gif later based on those new smaller frames.

Maximum attach here is exceeded by file size but I'll try to email it to you.

Thanks in advance.

This may not be the proper place for this, and I apologize.

Can someone tell me how to fix the broken links to the different programs on the phone that I obviously did when I hit the "remove programs" button in error. They are still there, but the link/shortcut to them is not. Cry
