Title says it all. I get the vibration alert, but I'd quite like it if my screen actually lit up when I received a text. Can I get a little help?

Menu --> settings --> sounds & notifications --> notifications --> Messaging: New text message --> check the box next to display message on screen.

That will not turn the screen on if the screen is off.  You still need to hit the power button first and then you can see the message on the Today screen.

I just now set mine to display the message on the screen and turned off my screen.
Then I logged on to my webmail on my laptop, and sent myself a text message.
My Omnia screen turned on and the text message was displayed.

I don't use it for privacy reasons, but it does work.

I've been trying to find out how to get the screen to wake upon receipt of a new text....I've done all of the above, but still doesn't light up the screen when the screen is off.

Would the screen locking feature affect this setting at all?  I have it enabled and I'm just trying to see if there's a setting that's interfering with it.....any other ideas here?

I don't know what else to tell you guys, it works for me. After reading your post, I enabled the lock on mine, checked the box to display the message on the screen and turned it off.
Then I had my girlfriend send me a text message. The screen turned on, I saw the message, and unlock was on the screen.

When posting question, one should also state their Omnia's version, i900 or i910 or....using XP or Vista or Linux or....because different version works differently. I have encouraged all members to state that in their signature but only few did  Cry

...I should also add that my screen does light up for calendar notifications, but not texts.

I'm having the same problem.  When my screen goes blank after 5 minutes of inactivity, if I get a text or voicemail, although it plays the ringtone, the screen does not light up to show me that I have a message.  Combine that with the fact that I can't figure out how to tell it to repeatedly beep until I acknowledge it, and I think I'll be missing a lot of text messages with this phone.

Has anyone come up with a solutions?  I appreciate any help.  Thanks.

Apparently my solution for the screen lighting up doesn't work for everyone. I think there is an app you can download for alert reminders. You can now however set the light to blink for up to an hour to remind you of alerts. It's an option in the notifications, I haven't tested it though.

Sounds like it's going into sleep mode rather than just turning off the screen.  Keep looking for options in the power save modes.  I'm sure I saw one there somewhere.

I think that is it.  Thank you.  My power settings had the phone turning off after 1 minute, not simply the screen going blank.  I guess the Omnia defaults to the phone turning off after a short period of inactivity.

So if I simply have the screen go blank after 1 minute instead of the phone going to sleep mode will this kill my battery life?

Mine is also set to turn the device off if not used for 1 minute, it's also set to turn off the backlight if not used for 1 minute. My screen still lights up when I receive a text if I set it to display the message on the screen.

Having the same problem now!
I've never had this problem before, yet after doing a hard reset (my 5th or 6th==> I mess around alot Smiley) and changing all the settings as they were before, my screen doesn't light up either anymore...
Was already looking into it but didn't find a sollution, if I find one, I'll let you guys know...

After hard reset, the screen lights up when receiving a text message.
After shutting the phone down and turning it back up again, it doesn't light up anymore...
First I thought it was caused by SKTools or S2U2, but apparently the registry must change a setting from the moment you turn off the power...

Any help would be appreciated, because I''ve reached the end of my ideas..
(Without installing 3d party programs to enable the screen to light up, preferrably...)

Greets,
