They should be able to sync both ways. Maybe your missing a setting in Outlook.

I was able to sync my calendar from my office's Outlook 2007, but I'm using my home PC now, which don't have Outlook installed. So, most of the items are grayed out.

When you plug in your device to your PC, the ActiveSync will automatically load with the "Synchronization Setup Wizard" like this:

Click next, so that the "Option" page is shown and check whatever you want to sync to your device.
Then, click on "Settings..." to set which way to sync.

Click on next and the ActiveSync's information area should show the progress:

Okay.

After some testing with your .ics, I found out that you have to import it into Outlook.

You cannot just open it.

Open your Outlook, then from File, choose Import and Export..., highlight Import an iCalendar (.ics) or vCalendar file (.vcs) and click next.

After the import, you can sync it to your Omnia.

.................
Now, how do I delete your iCalendar from my Outlook?  Undecided Tongue
