If you have been unlucky enough to get an Omnia that is carrier locked, this is the way to unlock it for free!

This has been confirmed now and will be stickied! Please continue to brainstorm ideas for members who are having trouble!

1) Download attached ZIP file
2) Copy all three .lnk files to your Omnia
3) Open a registry editor and go to HKCU\System\State\PHONE, and write down the first 6 digits of IMSI entry (eg 505021 "Optus Australia"
4) Run Lock.ink
5) Enter the 6 digits you wrote down from above in the MCC/MNC section
6) As NCK, enter 12345678
7) Tap OK (it should tell that SIMLock enabled)
8) Run Status.lnk to see if its locked
9) Run Unlock.lnk
10) Enter code entered in point 6 (12345678)
11) You're Unlocked!

Try this method too...

1. Type *7465625*638*# to set
2. Type the code from the registry as above into the MCC/MNC section
3. Type your new NCK (12345678), then OK
4. Type *#7465625# to check your lock
5. Type #7465625*638*# and type your NCK (12345678)

Would love some real time feedback on this guys...

Say you buy your phone from, i don't know, Vodafone... (just as an example)

Vodafone (the jerks) have locked the phone so it only works on their network. If you pay them a small (huge) fee they'll unlock it for use on other networks.

This process does what the network will charge you to do, all for free!

Nice!

Hi,

I tried it but after enteriing the MCC/NNC code, it says fail to set locking status.  I tried running the status and there's an option to unlock the netowrk but after enabling it, it does nothing...

Was there a step that I skipped?

thanks.

Try another carrier, your network may have two codes?

I didn't write the software, just passing it on!

Hi,

I am having a problem with my new phone & just posted this
..............
Hi everyone, I am new to this site & new to Omnia!
Having just bought a 2nd hand omnia using my T-Mobile sim successfully for a couple of days, i thought i would bring the firmware up to date.  I downloaded i900MSHJ1_updater_xp. Big mistake! Cry  What I didn't know was that the phone wasn't open to all networks.  Now when I boot the system up, it doesn't seem to recognise the sim.  All it does is beeps from the windows mobile screen then keeps irrationally flashing between phone off, no service.
Anyone out there that can bring my phone back to life without the need to go back to samsung???
Cheers,
Neal
.............
I thought your solution might work but unfortunately, I doesn't. It tells me Fail to set lock status..........

I'm a novice at this (as you can tell because if i wasn't, I wouldn't be in this mess!) and you seem pretty clever so I was wondering if you know what i could do?  Any advise would be appreciated, even if it's to say just give up and return the phoe to Samsung for them to sort.
Cheers,
Neal

Thanks.  But I tried it again, and it's the same.  My network has only 1 code I guess based on the link you posted.

Hope you can still assist on this one.

Thanks again.

Try this method too...

1. Type *7465625*638*# to set
2. Type your MCC/MNC code (list here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Network_Code), e.g.26003 for Polish ORANGE
3. Type your new NCK (12345678), then OK
4. Type *#7465625 to check your lock
5. Type #7465625*638*# and type your NCK (12345678)

Hi,

The code works well but after putting the NCK (12345678), it's still failed to set locking status.

Is there another NCK code for my network (Smart in the Philippines)?

thanks.

Hi,

Tried it but it says "You entered incorrect MCC/MNC"  It seems that I can only use my network's MCC/MNC however when doing that the fail to staus lock is showing.

Thanks for your patience... let's keep on trying.
