When you press end call key to lock, the screen will be dimmer & "unlock" will appear on the bottom left hand side.
When you press end call key to unlock, "unlock" will change to "Cancel" for 1 second & disappear & the screen will turns brighter.

if you lock the phone by using the screen functions the phone will unlock by holding down the "end call" key.

But it won't lock using the "end call" key

any ideas...

The problem I am having is that "lock" only reallys locks the screen/buttons.  I want (as on my old Moto Q) to be able to lock the device and require my password to unlock.  The only time it requires my password is when I turn the phone on after being off.

I have checked the box "when device is woken up, lock device" and that doesn't do anything.  I have selected "end key setting: lock device" and that doesn't do anything.  The only way I have been able to get it to require my password to unlock is if in the "Lock" menu I check the box "Prompt if device is unused for" and select "0 minutes".  That makes it so it requires a password when it comes out of sleep, but it also locks the phone and requires a password every minute!

I just want to be able to lock the phone when I want and have it require a password when it comes out of sleep.

Thanks for your help,
Chad

First post, so I'll try to add something to this forum.

I've also been trying to figure out how to do the password lock after locking the screen/buttons, but haven't been successful in doing so. I've been searching around and the other forums also don't seem to have a solution.

If anybody finds a way, that'd be great. I'm with Telus (canada).

Does anybody have any idea whatsoever how to demand a password after the phone is unlocked? It seems really really stupid that Samsung didn't get something like this right...
