If you are wanting to purchase a new touch screen phone, I strong urge you to try out the Omnia before you go off and buy an iPhone! I did a LOT of studying, reading up, and watching videos on many different phones before finally settling on one. I even tried out an HTC Touch Pro. I absolutely HATED the Touch Pro.  It was nothing like I had expected. Meanwhile, my brother bought an Omnia the same day I bought the TP. When I decided I hated the TP and wanted to send it back for another, I started looking heavily into the iPhone. I was SO close to getting an iPhone! I called Verizon in the morning to order an Omnia and got the run-around about sending back my Touch Pro. I think I actually spend about 4 hours that day on the phone with them. Finally, I called a local ATT store and asked if they had the 16GB in stock and if I could come pick one up. They said "Yes, and Yes." Right then, I called my brother and told him I was fed up with the Touch Pro and was going to get an iPhone! Well, he reminded me that the rest of our family had just switched to Verizon, and that Verizon offered the best coverage for some of the areas we frequently visit.

I decided to give Verizon one last try before switching over to ATT and an iPhone. I called a local Verizon store and asked if I could return my TP and get an Onia that night. They said "sure, no problem, just bring it in." I packed up the TP and got to the Verizon store about 8:00pm and made the swap.

I tell you, I REALLY LOVE the Omnia. The more you play around with it, the more you will love it. There is a lot of hype on the iPhone, but it just doesn't have the features that the Omnia has. You CAN NOT customize the iPhone like you can the Omnia. There are so many things you can do with the Omnia, it's not even funny. Not to mention the 5.0MP camera and video recorder.

I happen to have 32GB iPod Touch and I do love it, but only as an Mp3 / video player. If you want an iPhone, you really should try out the Omnia first. You can always send it back if you don't like it. I guarantee you, if you give it a week, you are going to love it and forget all about the iPhone.

omnia is a great phone and i love mine too. but the multi-touch that iphone has, the variety of apps and games available, is wayyy tempting. not to mention the UI. thats why its a dream.

i highly doubt i will be getting rid of my omnia any time soon.  i looked into the omnia HD and i know about 6 months from now 1/3 of the people on this site will have gone that route, but i'm going to wait till the i8910's successor comes out.

the phone after the omnia HD will most likely have multitouch, a better screen, and hopefully a more viewable screen in sunlight, but as for me, i'm extremely satisfied with this phone and do not see any problems pulling me away from the phone within the next year at the minimum.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Omnia_HD

Doing a search on this forum, I found little info. So assume like elsewhere I might be one of the first to get one and then go on the forums.

I have had a few problems, not with the phone but the old software Samsung package with it.
PC suite I think its called. Got a fix, which I'll post under a seperate heading so that mods can move to relevant section.

Actually as this is going to be such a huge impacting phone, might be worth starting a new forum subject on it.

Had the phone for 4 days now, and previously had a Nokia rubber encased keypad phone, that has been dropped so many times its my faithful buddy. Anyway needed a phone for business and tracking customer invoices etc and thought the i8910 would be able to handle that, as well as being able to use it for my pasttime of off-road driving.
To this end I have successfully installed an app from a company over here in England called ViewRanger that gives me details off-road location with old roads viewed and contours of the hills (would'nt want a roll-over - or cliff to fall off of).
Having had a dog disappear last year and never being found, I intend to use the phone with a bit of hardware called Retrieva that attached as a collar around the animals neck, and sends a beacon back to me as to where it is at all times.

This UK phone is on the Orange network - not overly sure the software included on the phone by them is up to the job. I previously have used a Loox720 PDA running Windows software, and software apps from Spb helped alot on it. But does not seem to be that much choice of apps for this phone yet, as OS is Symbian S60 v5 (for touchscreens) - however this is the way mobile industry is going so best to get on board in the early days of this technology, as will be easier to offer support to others in years to come.

I have already watched a DVD quality film on it a DiVx encoded one. And also used DrDivx to convert a digital recording I made on my Panasonic SDR-20 of some of us having a laugh a few weeks back onto it, however I really need to upgrade my PC  if I want to do much more coded convertions as its very time consuming, and cache intensive.

Video (can't think of a better word) recorded on the 8910 is pretty damn good - as is recorded at source into mpeg4 - yet to try to play it on a pc or post up to yotubs yet.

The phones video playback is suited to bedtime really, as speakers are not powerful enough for more than a few metres in a meeting environment - certainly not great down the pub.
Day light viewing of the screen is not brilliant, which I thought the AMOLED screen would cope with, main problem is the glass cover and the greasy finger stains reflecting the light, not sure if can use a screen cover on it to assist with this as think the technology is 3.7" Capacitive touchscreen instead of Resistive. Yet to investigate if this means what I think it means that needs electrical impulses from skin to make it work, so more layers on top of glass the less accurate it is. Okay just checked, a stylus or pen end won't work on it.
Might have to find an app that will effect the contrast in bright light. Admittedly it was straight on full sunlight.

DLNA technology, great - when will that be available elsewhere and how does it differ from Bluetooth ?

Internet is fast - okay its not as fast or easy as  a laptop, but having had used a phone from '3' that worked like two cans a length of string this is miles better.

If anyone else reads this would be good to know what they think.
