Title: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: adrynalyne on January 01, 2009, 08:12:36 PM The file that controls Samsung Today 2, secst.dll, is already on our device. So...if you install the Samsung Today 2 cab floating around, you are adding ~700kb of unnecessary wasted space, because you aren't overwriting the ROM file, really.
All is needed is to create a registry entry. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\Samsung Today 2] "Order"=dword:00000003 "Flags"=dword:00000000 "Enabled"=dword:00000001 "Options"=dword:00000001 "Type"=dword:00000005 "Selectability"=dword:00000002 "DLL"="secst.dll" Thats it. Doesn't even require a reboot. This may also be the answer to those having issues with Samsung Today 2 on their VZW Omnias, too. I was unable to import a .reg file with PHM registry editor, but if you have an app that can, here is the .reg file. Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: risan214 on January 02, 2009, 04:27:26 PM I attempted to import this reg key using resco reg editor and it stated it was not valid.
Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: adrynalyne on January 02, 2009, 05:35:21 PM It was created with PHM registry Editor. I am not sure why nothing imports it. I'll try to attach a better one.
At any rate, these settings do work. Your other option is to copy the current Samsung Today key, paste it into a new key, and rename it to Samsung Today 2. Then change the dll to secst.dll. Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: adrynalyne on January 02, 2009, 05:47:06 PM Here is an updated .reg file. Apparently PHM Registry Editor left off the identifier line for the registry editor.
Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: sztupy on January 02, 2009, 05:55:43 PM Here is an updated .reg file. Apparently PHM Registry Editor left off the identifier line for the registry editor. And the old one had no Unicode BOM mask at the beginning of the file. Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: risan214 on January 03, 2009, 08:39:17 AM This reg string imported fine and I was able to select the today 2 as an option. But now I am having the problem of the message button not working all the time. One time it caused my omnia to start vibrating and it would not stop without a reboot. After the restart it allowed me to open the text message window. And then it just stopped working again. Is there a problem with the way that button is linked?
Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: adrynalyne on January 03, 2009, 10:35:17 AM Not so far as I know. I've experienced no side effects. What all do you have installed?
Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: adrynalyne on January 03, 2009, 12:42:42 PM Just thinking aloud here. The reason that Samsung did not enable this feature could be because of it not being bug free, even though the file is the same exact version as the one pulled from the i900. Along the same lines of thinking, why did Samsung include the silver and black today 2 themes on the i910 and (assuming) i900, yet not make a way to enable them, other than manually or by the cab file floating around? Why include the files if they are just gonna sit there dormant until a tweaker finds them?
My only theory is them being buggy, even though I havent had issue with them. Its kind of like silverinbox. Its very buggy for me, and doesn't work with my Gmail account, but works fine for others, so.... :-\ Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: soreal on February 13, 2009, 01:39:54 PM Where do I find the Samsung Today 2 cab file on my phone?
Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: dmgks on February 14, 2009, 11:41:16 AM Where do I find the Samsung Today 2 cab file on my phone? Soreal, see reply #3, above. The link to the zip containing the registry import file is at the end of adrynalyn's reply. If you can't import the registry file you can enter the registry key and values manually using a tool like PHM RegEdit (Google for download sources). Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: imowt on March 09, 2009, 04:01:59 PM Hey New to this but was looking into the today screens...now correct me if I am wrong but this will eliminate the widgets, and allow me to view "ICONS" on my i910. Well I went to adrynalyne post and folloed it, but there is no today 2 just a todaty, and with this only a few of the items are there maybe 3 out of the 5 or 6. Where you are supposed to change the values of what is there. Is this only for the i900?
I downloaded the today2 zip I put it in my storage but when I opened the regedit I could not import the today2 file either. I even put it in the program files/reg folder... & it still didnt find it ...any help would be appreciated Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: adrynalyne on March 09, 2009, 04:26:05 PM You need a registry editor to import the file contained within the zip.
Otherwise, you still need a registry editor to make the changes to use Samsung Today 2 :) Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: Supahrob on March 11, 2009, 12:15:51 PM import feature is grayed out on regedit? how do i import samsung today 2? i copied the reg file into my storage, is there another way to put in the registry? Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: bigperm on March 12, 2009, 12:47:34 AM Hey I've been using the Today2 Screen, using the regedit, but have about 25% of the screen at the bottom that is blank. I have seen screenshots where people have put appointments, etc. down there, any way to do this?
Hey sorry, I just figured it out. I had been used to using the "Today" Homescreen, and everytime I tried to add anything to it (calendar, tasks, etc) I would get a notice, letting me know it was incompatable with "Samsung Today" with "Today 2" I can add that to the blank space at the bottom. Don't know how to post a screenshot, but now I have my calendar and Skyfire searchbar down there. I followed the path .. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\ ? but when i get to here it says today not the today2... anyone know why?
..I thought it was here and i am supposed to "tweak it" or whatever so as not to install it ( as it is sopposebly on the i910 already) and to save space.... is this correct? we should not install the whole entire file? help thanks jake Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: bigperm on March 18, 2009, 03:22:35 PM inowit -
In order to see the Today 2 screen, you have to add a registry key (I THINK that is what it is called, I am new to it) but even though I am new, I was able to do it, and I like the Today 2 screen(s). Second, I didn't realize you could do this, but on the Today 1 screen, if you hold an icon, you will get a menu, and you are able to delete it and put a different one on. For example, you can erase "internet" (Opera) and put in "Skyfire" (just an example, don't go crazy people if you don't like skyfire!) ;D Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: imowt on March 19, 2009, 10:11:02 AM what iis a registry key & how and where do i install it? I have the regedit thing(program/file)
Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: bigperm on March 19, 2009, 05:21:20 PM Ok I mow it, just follow the below path, and in your reg editor, pick "New" at the bottom (I use PHM) and just add those values that were posted initially, as adrynalyne posted (see quote) I had never done this before, but I looked at the ....\Items\Today reg entry, and saw what was in there (it is very simple) and figured it out from there. It is really pretty intuitive, once you look at another registry key. So, to start you out, you would CREATE a key called "Today 2" .etc etc. There is probably a link on registry editors around here somewhere. Remember, I don't do a lot of that, but like I said, it was pretty easy.
The file that controls Samsung Today 2, secst.dll, is already on our device. So...if you install the Samsung Today 2 cab floating around, you are adding ~700kb of unnecessary wasted space, because you aren't overwriting the ROM file, really. Doesn't even require a reboot. This may also be the answer to those having issues with Samsung Today 2 on their VZW Omnias, too. I was unable to import a .reg file with PHM registry editor, but if you have an app that can, here is the .reg file. Also, took me a bit to realize the reason none of the buttons under the settings tab worked--you have to click the settings icon again to unlock them. :-[ Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: teekettle on April 04, 2009, 07:13:23 AM The Samsung today 2 plug in is not in my items box, what do I do to get it?

I had installed Adrynalyn's cab that enables it, and when I would click on Message it would vibrate like crazy, and not do anything. I decided to instead do what Adrynalyne said as far as the registry editor I basically copied all the entries from Samsung Today into a new key which I named Samsung Today 2, and then changed that one secst thing, and now the message button and everything works fine. Very strange.
Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: OJmobileII on April 09, 2009, 08:11:46 AM Here you go Is that a weather icon next to your clock? Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: psyjohn on April 09, 2009, 12:34:20 PM I edited the registry with no problem, then activated ST2. However, the settings icons don't seem to do anything. I've tried tapping and tap-hold, but nothing. Also, is there a way to change a phonebook selection? I accidentally chose the wrong entry and can't figure out a way to delete or change it from the today screen.
Thanks, John Edit: I just realized that the Settings and Phone icons are active. Tapping them locks/unlocks the features. Now that I've figured that... ST2 rocks! Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: dbsimms63 on April 18, 2009, 04:57:08 PM ok, before anyone says it, I made the cardinal rule of NOT copying my registry before I mucked with it, I know a BIG NO NO. Can anyone give me the old registry values for the today screen. Mine vibrates and locks when I hit the message button. So I'm going to make a new file, re-label it Today, then replace everything in the Today 2, but leave the secst.dll and see if that works. Or if someone could tell me just what to change so I can make it quit vibrating.
edit: Well all is well, after a soft reset, the message icon functions fine, no vibrating.. :D Title: Re: [Verizon] Add Samsung Today 2 to your Omnia and Save Space Post by: shadowsjc on April 20, 2009, 11:35:25 AM Here you go Is that a weather icon next to your clock?
