The file that controls Samsung Today 2, secst.dll, is already on our device.  So...if you install the Samsung Today 2 cab floating around, you are adding ~700kb of unnecessary wasted space, because you aren't overwriting the ROM file, really.

All is needed is to create a registry entry.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\Samsung Today 2]
"Order"=dword:00000003
"Flags"=dword:00000000
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"Options"=dword:00000001
"Type"=dword:00000005
"Selectability"=dword:00000002
"DLL"="secst.dll"

Thats it.  Doesn't even require a reboot.  This may also be the answer to those having issues with Samsung Today 2 on their VZW Omnias, too.

I was unable to import a .reg file with PHM registry editor, but if you have an app that can, here is the .reg file.

I attempted to import this reg key using resco reg editor and it stated it was not valid.

It was created with PHM registry Editor.  I am not sure why nothing imports it.  I'll try to attach a better one.

At any rate, these settings do work.

Your other option is to copy the current Samsung Today key, paste it into a new key, and rename it to Samsung Today 2.  Then change the dll to secst.dll.

Here is an updated .reg file.  Apparently PHM Registry Editor left off the identifier line for the registry editor.

Here is an updated .reg file.  Apparently PHM Registry Editor left off the identifier line for the registry editor.

And the old one had no Unicode BOM mask at the beginning of the file.

This reg string imported fine and I was able to select the today 2 as an option.  But now I am having the problem of the message button not working all the time.  One time it caused my omnia to start vibrating and it would not stop without a reboot.  After the restart it allowed me to open the text message window.  And then it just stopped working again.  Is there a problem with the way that button is linked?

Not so far as I know.  I've experienced no side effects.  What all do you have installed?

Just thinking aloud here.  The reason that Samsung did not enable this feature could be because of it not being bug free, even though the file is the same exact version as the one pulled from the i900.  Along the same lines of thinking, why did Samsung include the silver and black today 2 themes on the i910 and (assuming) i900, yet not make a way to enable them, other than manually or by the cab file floating around?  Why include the files if they are just gonna sit there dormant until a tweaker finds them?

My only theory is them being buggy, even though I havent had issue with them.  Its kind of like silverinbox.  Its very buggy for me, and doesn't work with my Gmail account, but works fine for others, so....

Soreal, see reply #3, above. The link to the zip containing the registry import file is at the end of adrynalyn's reply. If you can't import the registry file you can enter the registry key and values manually using a tool like PHM RegEdit (Google for download sources).
