my phone keeps switching itself into emergency mode, and sometimes it sends me a notification saying only emergency calls can be made, but i can still call people and text, too.  it doesnt take away my service provider sign and put the red emergency call only box up all the time, either.
im just wondering if i can get it to stop doing this.

I can't speak about keying a code.  However, I was having the same issues with my Omnia - the phone would start popping up this Warning and while the phone would remain fully operational, the warning had become very annoying.  I called Verizon and they suggested something which I just now figured out - at least, I think I have the answer to make the warning go away.  What is triggering it is that there's a number listed in your Emergency Call List which is also a number for one of your most frequently called Contacts.

To stop the annoying warning, go to the Emergency Call list: Phone > Options > Security tab > Emergency Call.  You will then be able to see the list of Emergency Call numbers.  Place a '1' in front of the contact's number(s).  When you click OK, the phone will prompt you to enter 'yes' for a confirmation and soft reset.  Now the phone doesn't recognize the Emergency call number as the same number associated with the Contact and life is without annoyance again. Grin

Hope this helps.

Thanks MOGo
That's exactly what I had going on - couldn't figure why it wasn't happening to my friend too. She hadn't edited emergency #'s like I did.

This also happens if you have to call 911 for whatever reason.  I called on a drunk driver a month or so ago and the notifications wouldn't stop until I did a soft-reset.

I'm brand new here but not new to the omnia, EASIEST WAY to disable the emergency more, make sure the phone number you have in there is the same as what you dial.

Make a phone call on that number, once connected hang up
You will notice a small grey box that says "EXIT" quickly tap it
goto the security settings and take out the number, when prompted type "yes" and you should be good to go!
