Will Verizon know that you are using internet when connected via USB to PC?

If I am correct, they'll know the phone by it's ID number. But if you have a data plan, which you must have to buy an omnia, they'll think its the phone; unless they dissect the packets.

I doubt they will waste manpower on the packets.

So I went into the connection settings and auto detect was already checked so i unchecked and then rechecked it. Opera still didn't work. I did a soft reset and it works. Is this a known issue?
Also, can you secure this connection (WMWiFiRouter), I noticed someone else asked the same question but didn't find an answer. I also did a search and found no results ...

Thanks,
Mike

Has anyone found a solution for the modem disconnecting every 5 mins or so? Mine keeps saying "the remote party has ended this connection." Any ideas?

I have yet to find an explanation to this on Modaco, PPCGeeks, etc.  Anyone know something I haven't come across yet?

I've only had wmwifirouter on my Omnia for a couple days, and only used it for a few short sessions on my iPod Touch at the office to play one of the games.  Today I was only for probably 5 minutes before I got the "remote party has ended this connection" pop up.  I haven't tried it since.

Does this mean VZ sniffed me out?  I've read about guys using 10 GB/month, so how can I get busted for playing a game for 5 minutes over the course of the last few days?

Just soft reset the phone, it should connect find, it does seem like this is something verizon does to enforce thier tethering plan, but i find reseting the phone typically makes it work again

Well I have yet to see anyone complain about getting some outrageous bill while using ICS, WMWiFi or PDAnet, so I guess no one has yet.  I am sure the boards would be going nuts if people started getting hit in the wallet for it.

Wmwifirouther and pdanet both seem to work for me.  The question is why should I buy pdanet when it seems to work just fine just by downloading and installing it?  I didn't see anything on june fabric's website about an expiring free trial time window.

I just tried a program called walking hot spot that I installed after installing ics.
at first try it seems to work excellent. It also prompts my phone to allow the
attempted connection from my pc. So far so good, I'll try it more in depth this
evening. Very easy and cool program to use. FWIW.

Update:

So this is weird. Walking  hot spot works awesome out of the box on win xp
but when I try to use it at home the win7 computer hooks up right away but then
I have internet connection on neither the phone or computer. If I tether the
phone with a usb cable and use ics it works fine but wifi kills it. Any ideas? I have
a laptop that's xp I think I will try tonight to try to narrow it down to something
with win7 or not.

The guys at WMWIFIrouter tell me that cab file is a stripped down and pirated version of
their software. I have yet to notice the disappearing wifi button using their full
version. Maybe thats just in the pirated one?

For what it's worth, they  have answered every question via email I have had in a
very timely manner and very well. Worth the money for me to get the real software.
