I have figured out the fix for the issue of the annoying increasing ringtone. It is a matter of changing one single setting in the registry.

Go to HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring\AttenuationCategory and change the value to 1 and you are all fixed. No more annoying increasing ringtone. Set it loud and have it loud, set it low and keep it low Smiley

Disclaimer: Individual results may vary. Modifications that have been made to your phone outside of this technique may have a direct impact on the results of this change being made to your phone. Competence of the individual performing this change may also have a direct impact on the results of this change on your phone. The success of this change was performed on a 3 week old Verizon i910. Rom version S:i910.10 V.BJ28.2027 with no other registry changes made to my phone. Use only as directed.

No other adjustments were made. If you have made other registry changes in attempting to resolve this issue prior to trying this solution they may be overriding the AttenuationCategory settings.

There are 3 values that the AttenuationCategory can be set for.

0 is no ringtone volume
1 is flat ringtone volume
2 is increasing ringtone volume

My phone is a 3 week old Verizon i910. Rom version S:i910.10 V.BJ28.2027. I have not made any other registry changes to my phone.

Does this change stay after a reboot? I applied a change to the registry to keep the phone dialer screen from rotating when I tilted the phone to my ear, but after every reboot, it reverted back. I wound up having to write a small script to set it at each boot, and putting that script in the startup folder.

Anyhow, thanks for the info. I'm applying it now.

WORKS! VZW i-910

i applied this change, waited 20 seconds and soft reset. checked the setting again and it was still there. I had a coworker call me and the ring is all the way up right from the first ring.

worked on mine too after a soft reset.. make sure to wait 30 seconds after you make the registry change before rebooting

edit - meant soft reset not hard reset..  Shocked

Nice.  Made a cab file to make these changes for you.

I think the same wait 20 seconds and soft reset rules will still apply.

Edit:  For some reason it keeps writing a string value instead of dword, and causing issues.

I am removing it, my apologies.

Here is a backup of the settings in case you need it.

from users experience and mine as well it appear problem still persists.

i think this trick might b working in some roms but you can see still on the whole problem has not been resolved perfectly.

i have tried to change at least 5 roms (official and custom), hard resetting phone but its working on non.

better remove "Solved" from subject.
