input the code as above...
the audio control utility will start
clik menu > normal > handset
the original settings are:
DAC(0C) = -4.5 db
SPK(02) = -3 db
MPBST(22) = +12 db
RBST(14) = 0 db
RVOL(12) = 21 db

i have changed these to:
DAC(0C) = -0 db
SPK(02) = 0 db
MPBST(22) = +12 db
RBST(14) = 0 db
RVOL(12) = 21 db

MENU > APPLY ... THEN OK

Then went onto doing the headset
the original settings are:
DAC(0C) = -1.5 db
HP(04) = -12 db
MPBST(22) = +24 db
RBST(14) = +20 db
RVOL(12) = -1.5 db

i changed them to:
DAC(0C) = 6 db
HP(04) = 0 db
MPBST(22) = +24 db
RBST(14) = +20 db
RVOL(12) = 0 db

and again..

MENU > APPLY  THEN OK

you can aslo alter the sound setting for when in a call if anyone wants to know what setting i am using without blowing the built in speaker... just ask and ill get back to you when im free...
And also if any other help is required don't hesitate to ask...

It work's for me too.

Q is, could it damage the device???

I yust tweaked a headset, not a handset (cos loud is good)

My headset settings

DAC(0C) = 3 db
HP(04) = 0 db
MPBST(22) = +24 db
RBST(14) = +20 db
RVOL(12) = 0 db

And I think its the best settings, loudness is great and sound quality is good too.

Makes the phone very loud when you switch it on, anyone know how to reduce that but keep the remaining stuff set to the higher level?

I have to soft reset a few times a day to keep the phone side of things working so it gets a bit annoying having to put my hand over the speaker :)

you can replace the startup sound with an 0 byte file

if you read the posts verizon phones disabled most of these commands so putting the code in the phone pad does not work

For Verizon, you can run /Windows/SoundTester.exe from File Explorer, but you first need to tell File Explorer to show all files, otherwise you will not see Soundtester.

It seems like Verizon did pump up the sound, as most of the default settings were actually the same or louder than what people were changing theirs to earlier in this thread.

I still find my Jawbone II to be soft, and the speakerphone is pretty useless.

My verizon omnia is too soft as well both on the speakerphone and the earpiece.  I was about to return my earpiece until I saw this thread.  Thanks for the info.

I'm a noobie to this forum (first post here) so thanks for your help.

I'd like to increase my volume as well, but my default settings on my Verizon Omnia are different so I'm unsure how to adjust them.  My default settings are as follows:

DAC 12dB
SPK 0dB
MPBST +30dB
RBST +20dB
RVOL -17.25dB

OK, this is going to sound completely bogus but on the i910 volume question (not the i900), I
actually think this made a difference.

First open File Explorer, go to My Device, open Windows folder, and then find SoundTester. Open SoundTester. In Soundtest open the Menu and then open Normal. In Normal open either Handset or Headset. If you open Handset, you will see SPK(02) with a value of 0 dB. Now, we all know that if you change this value and then go back to Menu and hit Apply, the value will not hold and will not have any effect on the volume.

Now, here is where it gets weird. When you open Handset, go to Menu and hit Cancel instead of Apply. Now if you look at SPK(02), you will now see the value has changed to -6 dB. Change the -6 dB to 0 db and now go to Menu and hit Apply. Again, this value will not hold, however, if you now do a soft reset, I think you will now notice a difference in your handset volume. If this is my imagination, I apologize for wasting your time but it seems much louder to me.

Now, for the Headset, do the same thing. Go to Menu, Normal, Headset. This time you will see HP(04) = 0 dB. Again, go back to Menu annd hit Cancel. Now HP(04) = -6dB. Again, change to 0 dB, hit Menu, Apply, close and do a soft reset.

Now my headphones are so loud that I don't use them on the loudest setting--too loud.

Let me know if anybody else has the same experience. I want to know if this actually works for somebody else or if it's a result of having survived the 60's.

I have an i910, and used soundtester to adjust the sound on my omnia to many different settings.  Through many iterations I have come to find that the enclosed registry entries work well for me.  I would like some feedback from different sets of ears to see if these are the best we can do, or if their is something more optimal.

I have the i1910 Verizon phone. I used what "ROCKEHILL" posted and it worked flawlessly. The only thing is that if you apply, I don't think it does anything and once you soft reset you may lose the settings. From what I could tell the changes take effect within a couple of seconds.  When i "applied" and soft reset it went back to normal. Good luck!!!

I've just updated to new official ROM from Verizon (i910) will the SoundTester.exe solution still work?

Current settings are:

Handset/Handset are the same-

DAC 12dB
SPK 0dB
MPBST +30dB
RBST +20dB
RVOL -17.25dB

I would like to raise volume on everything, how should I change settings?

awes0me!..
it w0rked for me..

but i have a question sir.. if i changed the settings, wouldn't the built-in speakers in my fone be overstressed?.. i experienced doing this on my other fone and sadly,, i had to buy the parts and replace the old ones because the sound was broken.. now i have a fear that it may also happen to my phone yet i really really love to enhace the sound quality of it..

thank you..

This is my first visit and only the 3rd day I've owned this phone and there is definitely an issue with low volume. I have searched my windows file for the speakertest file and it is not present (this is a Verizon i910) so unless there's another way around this I guess I'll just live with what I have.

Does anyone out there know how and where to add audio files so I can use them as alerts???

Tried Rockehill's method and seems to have worked, thanks!

Essentially, it seems that once you hit "cancel" you can enter in the volume levels you would like and them apply them.  Also, I'm using the Cf03 (verizon updated) ROM.  I do have a question as far as the different volume levels go.  I know:

DAC = Digital-to-Analog
HP = Headphone Volume
RVOL = Radio Volume

Does anyone know what the MPBST and RBST levels change?

Thanks!

Is there a code for the speaker as well?  That's kind of low too.
