I've been a member of this site since I first bought my Omnia. Due to my nervousness about voiding the warranty, I've only recently started flashing the firmware etc.
Reading your vast number of posts both here and on modaco has really helped me to understand a little more about how to flash, and perhaps how to even cook my own in the near future. You helped to ease my mind and reassure me that upgrading the firmware wasn't as difficult, or risky as I'd first imagined.

Thanks to you I have new found performance and features on my omnia, it's almost as good as buying a newer model (which I can't afford or justify)
Keep up the good work, and if you're ever in my neighbourhood, look me up!

It's not the newest, or the fastest, but I built it & I love it! Tongue

thanks bro..

it is all about understanding, i try to get that across to people, so they can easily do stuff, that seems impossible.

I knew none of this 12 months ago...NOTHING!!!!

look now, i can cook ROMs, not just for Omnia..well not tried others yet Wink, but i have learnt a skill. I can make a Phone, really mine and how would like it.

You guys help me mould the builds to something that is usable for many people. I cannot please everyone and there will always be something that isnt right for you in each build. This is life. Tongue

I will be stopping for real soon...so.....the end is near...

Smiley

Oh...where is your neighbourhood??

No, no, thank YOU bro!

Following your progress here and on modaco (here first! Wink ) is what's inspiring me to want to give cooking ROMs a go too, so I can also make my phone really mine.
It'd be sad to see you stop, have you ever thought about enquiring with Microsoft about a job programming? I'd imagine it'd be awesome to assist in a project like porting Windows 7 to mobile/Omnia!

I'm in Cairns, North Queensland, Australia... where are you?

BIG UPDATE....

Due to time, life and other stuff. The next ROM i make will be the last. I have 23409 and i will make it this week.

But it will be the last, the FINAL, the end (for now).

My free time is minimal these days, and what free time i have, i really dont want to be cooking ROMs. So, i will stop.

Hopefully in a few months, etc, i will be able to cook again. I need to sort a lot of personal things out at the moment, and finding the time is really hard.

So something has to give, and cooking is it.

So i still check the forums etc, but i wont be contributing any ROMs for a very long time!!

Thanks guys, you all have helped me in lots of ways too.

Bought me a second hand Omnia last week to replace my old PDA, phone and MP3 player.
Been struggling ever since to find me a system that works while using the apps I love while using the standard ROM.

Finally decided to install Shokka's WM6.1 v99... Shocked

Wow! It fixes all the stuff I could not get around with the standard ROM. Grin Grin Grin

Very gratefull for your hard work!

btw. the greatest thing about these ROMs is it takes away all the tedious research for an optimized system from a newbie (to the scene) like me.
The only thing you have to do is select the right "chef" for you (in my case I rely on Shokka), install your favourite apps and live happily ever after. Cheesy
