Anyone know of a good free TV remote control software for the Verizon Omnia to use with the infrared?  I used to have a Ipaq that had Nevo, if I remember correctly.

i thought it had infrared.  If you go into settings then connections there is soft key for beam.  Push it and there is a check box for receive all incoming beams.  The Ipaq that I had had this also and it was used to beam contacts to another Ipaq.  But is was also used for the remote control.

I tried it last night.  My TV wasn't listed.  Tried the learn feature and got a error.  Going to try again tonight.  I'll let you know.

Sorry to get people's hope up.  Did some more research.  Icon is there for the infrared but three is no port.  Too bad, it was fun to play around with on my Ipaq.

No that is a light sensor to adjust screen backlight to ambient light conditions, I am told.  It's been labeled as everything from a front facing conferencing camera, to a secret device that Verizon and Microsoft are using to spy on us.  But no, no infra-red.  Too many complaints from sports bar owners, I guess.  Seems like some folks were using their PDA's , phones to change channels, etc. there as pranks.
Anyway, a phone is a phone is a PDA.  If you want TV convergence get yourself a Logictech Harmony remote.  They really work and keeps me from having six or seven remotes.  Controls several TV's DVR's Cable boxes, AV receivers, etc.

Actually, that is a camera for video calls. But, the United States (Verizon) does not have this.
