I got the Omnia i900 when it was first released in 2008. To this day, it works almost perfectly and has nearly everything (omnia, what's in a name) I need in a phone:
It calls and texts (the XT9 has learnt my entire vocabulary), the GPS works great, the 5MP camera takes sharper pictures than ugly people like, email sync-ing is really easy and I still have 6 GB of free space.
Even with today's phones it can still compete spec-wise.
Of course it has some minor flaws:
Sound fails once a week, the phone is getting a bit slower and the upper left corner of the touchscreen is...not so touchy anymore.

In a nutshell, overall I'm still very content with my phone and I don't want/need to change phones anytime soon.
The only thing I'm missing is whatsapp. Yes, I know it's just peer pressure, but all of my other contacts have got either an Android or Blackberry phone and use whatsapp. I'm the only one they still get texts from... Whatsapp is just a lot more convenient (and cheaper) than texting.
And it just seems as though whatsapp and the i900 aren't meant to be together, because:
no you can't download it for wm61,
yes whatsapp does run on wm7.5, but
no the i900 doesn't update to 7.5 (even 6.5 was too much too ask when the phone was relatively new) and
yes you can boot your phone to run android 2.2, but
no android doesn't work properly on the i900.

Since the closest we've been is whatsapp being made compatible with wm7.0 in a short while, my heartfelt question is this:
Is there any hope of ever making the wm7 version of whatsapp run on 6.1 or will I have to trade my loyal phone in for any other more recent phone?
This phone's only major flaw is it's lack of support on the OS, which is of course not the phone's fault.

Oh more hate on the i900:
in 2007 supposedly there was a BlackBerry Application Suite in Development. This meant you could run BB OS 4.x on wm 6.x phones.
but BB thought: who's going to buy our ugly phones if they can run our OS on better ones?
So just in 2011 they let it die quietly.

But again, there's more hope: Whatsapp does run on a very old symbian version (s60 3rd).
Now if only someone could port that one to wm 6.1 Symbian on wm 6.1

Porting is easier said than done though:

Exit Omnia, I got an LG Optimus 2x 2 weeks ago. It runs on Android so guess which app I immediately installed? That's right.
Have to say that it took me a few days to get along with the phone. During that time I thought about switching back. But now: it just works so much better in each and every way!
